Dying our dog green

Rachel and I want to dye our dog green for the Elmhurst Irish parade and St. Patricks Day.

Has anyone ever dyed their dog any color? Is this safe? What should we use just regular green food coloring? Jello?

I don't want to hurt the dog or get her sick. If we use Jello the dog will probably be eating herself all day so thats not a good idea.

It may be toxic if the dog licks it. I wouldnt think there is anything wrong with the food coloring idea, but it might still be green come next St. Patty's day!

I would not do this....Dog's skin is sensitive enough without adding dye or even extra bathes to get the stuff off.

Overall, just a BAD idea

I would imagine that most hair coloring thats safe for humans would be okay. Id check out a costume shop and see if they have any spray dye listed as non-toxic.

Go to a pet smart or review it on line somewhere - My ex gal died her Westhighland terrior Green for Pat's Day and all was fine

We could just dress her up with Shamrocks instead of dye.

This is Slowass's idea. It would be pretty funny to dye the dog green though, I just don't want to hurt the dog.

I'd check a pet store for this stuff. If it isn't there, it's probably not a good idea.

Welax. I am an avid dog lover. Besides my rottweiler is more likely to take a bite out of me than me eat him.

wow.. never seen a dog dyed green.. whatever you do make sure it's tested out on animals!!!
I think it's a bad idea... you dont really know what kinda skin a dog has... take the safe route and just buy a outfit for the doggy... get a lil hat and booty and a sweater and good to go!
you should Google it... because you have to remember that a dog's hair is much more finer and sensitive than a humans..

Bikes can be replaced...people can't...ride safe!!

A friend gave her dog a pink mohawk with the hairspray stuff. It seemed to work pretty well. Really kinda cute and it came out with no problems, I still think that an outfit might be a better choice...

Does anyone else here think of the old song by the B-52's off of Wild Planet, "Quiche Lorraine" when they read this thread? You know,

"Has anybody seen
a dog died dark green
about 2 inches tall
with a Strawberry blonde paw"

etc etc

"Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming WOW, what a RIDE !!"

Well before the lobster my friend - 1980 I think?

I sit corrected - Rock Lobster was their first single in 78 and wild planet was in 80 - my bad - you rock!

Their first single, "Rock Lobster", recorded for DB Records in 1978 (see 1978 in music), was an underground success that led to the B-52's performing at CBGB's and Max's Kansas City in New York City. "52 Girls" was the B-side.

Their debut album, The B-52's, contained rerecorded versions of Rock Lobster and 52 Girls, along with seven more originals and a remake of Petula Clark's classic "Downtown."

The album was eventually certified platinum and "Rock Lobster" gave the band its first entry on Billboard's Hot 100 chart.

The follow-up, Wild Planet, reached the Top 20 on the Billboard 200 in 1980 and was certified gold. "Private Idaho" became their second Hot 100 entry and around this time the B-52's performed a breakout set on Saturday Night Live.

Party Mix! was released next, a remix album that took tracks from the first two LPs and presented them in extended forms.

"Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming WOW, what a RIDE !!"
