Congrats. I closed on my first house in January. 2 bdrm/2.5 bath/loft in Naperville.

Never a bad time to climb... unless the weather is really horrible, and then you climb inside!

Ditto that.

I'm going to be buying house soon, just don't know where. Hoping somewhere near GMU, knock on wood! But I really don't have a clue how the closing thing works, or any of the process for that matter.

Cool I work in Buffalo Grove, I now can get lunch. He he

I closed on my built house and walked away with a check. At closing paid 300.00 to attny and came out with a check larger then what I wrote.

can't you get cash at closing because of the pro-rated property taxes or something?

I close this next wednesday, 3bed, 1 bath, 3 car heated garage with 200 ft driveway (my favorite parts ) in schiller park

rates: 5.375% 1st, 8.75% 2nd. closing costs were just the origination fee (less the 0.125% in rebate that the lender paid the broker) and the usual bits and pieces. very, very good broker. that was a lo-doc loan too; didn't need w-2, 1040s, rental history, etc and still got killer rates. painless.

Isn't that equivilent to adding on to the loan or rather increasing the loan amount? Basically a low interest long term cash loan?

it is right on BG road just north of Dundee

has a short driveway but 2.5 car attached garage
and a nice size backyard

we are putting 5% down so not walking away with any $ at closing

Going to the walk through in an hour

Alex - I will let you know when that party is

HEY HEY!!!

Congrats!

I work in Buffalo Grove and commute from Park Forest every day (65 miles each way). I am very easy to get along with, go to bed early (but sleep heavy so you can make noise) and have a cool bike. I cook too! I'll sleep in the basement, no problem.
