Dan Ryan Express Lane Closure?

I'm trying to rifle through the convoluted mess of the IDOT website...

Does anyone know if/when the lane closures have/will occur on the Dan Ryan? I'm a 294 commuter myself, so I'm trying to plan for when the tri-state will get really bad again with an influx of Dan Ryan commuters.

And the closures are for 31st street to the Skyway, I think...

Rachel,

I think a lot of people that are going to be affected by the Dan Ryan Lane closures are commuters to down town.

They will have to take side streets to get around the Massive mess IDOT will create next month.

Thats what they said on 780 this morning

Yeah, if it's true that it's just between 31st and the skyway, then I guess it won't affect those of us going to the north 'burbs much. Still should leave a little earlier, though.

Thanks for the April 1, BabyBoy!

No Problem, with I80, 394, and I57 all screwed up it should be a challenge going anywhere.

I hope the backups don't spill onto 290 EB or I'll have to learn the backstreets to the Loop.

Never a bad time to climb... unless the weather is really horrible, and then you climb inside!

Damn, I'm so pissed off. I will have to take 294 to get everywhere now. It's going to be over an hour ride to get home from bike nights now. I think a relocation may be in order soon.

I think its actually from 13th street to I-57. I can't believe they are doing this. Absolute idiots. There is no way they are going to be working on that entire stretch the entire time. I don't understand why they don't do it in smaller sections.

+1000, and I know they are going to take their sweet time doing it. I remember last summer, they closed a huge stretch of the Ryan, ate lunch and sun bathed the entire summer, then in September, they got to work and got it done. Those guys sure know how to milk the clock, I could learn a lot from them. They did more in a month than they did all summer. OMG, and they said this is going to last for 2 years. That guy who made the first flying car needs to speed up his testing so I can be done with this stuff, or someone make that cool jet bike I saw on The Island .

I think it's too dangerous for them to do smaller sections, if they close off all of the express lanes going one way then they can work without people flying by them at 75 mph. It's a huge project that is going to last like 2 years of some shit.

I'm glad I live and work North, they're speculating that it's going to cause backups on the Kennedy and even the Edens, brutal.
