How do I compress video?

I want to put the video I took on my mountaineering trip onto putfile.com but they have a 25 mb limit. What's the best way to go about compressing the video from 100mb to fit on the site so you all may enjoy my movie making skills?

Too much info on those pages. Can someone link me to a program I can download to compress the vids? Don't need anything fancy, I just want to make a 100mb file 25mb.

yep. Do you have a way to compress it? I know I'll loose resolution and size, maybe a few FPS, but that's okay. It'll still look good enough for the net.

Try that as it is free and it works. You may also need to DL the DIVX codec. I compressed a 20Meg video of me running up the stairs of that one museum in Philly, the one Rocky ran up the stairs into just under 2Megs.

I'm going to dig up some of my old amateur videos that I compressed in my younger and foolish days. Anyone want to see two chicks kissing?

OK, it is not much but here it is. Some of you may recognize the dorky Asian dude in the upper left hand corner.

You need DIVX or a similar codec for the video to work.

link me where I can get the codec.

I am compressing one video and it's gonna take 1.75 hours! What's up with that?

You can get the DIVX Codec at http://www.divx.com/divx/

Video compression on a standard PC takes a long time. Which is why God invented dual core CPUs and multi-processor motherboards.
