$4k would be a decent deal with those low miles.

I use NADA as well as KBB.

NADA lists the bike at $2760-$3380

http://www.nadaguides.com/Values/Val...del=1200005580

Personally I think that is low, but this page would be a good tool to use to try to get a lower price from the guy. From my knowledge, I would say $3500, plus a premium for the paint job. (I love the Smokin Joe's). You might want to PM Ashwingop as he has the same bike and ask him what he thinks is reasonable for that bike.

JMHO,

Wink

I'd search Ebay, cycletrader to see what other people are selling that exact bike for. If it's a rare bike, may have to go nationwide.

I'd say $4000 max.. Although the special paint, I don't think it will bring that much of a premium. It wasn't really that limited, kinda like the Repsol. I have a '98 F3, and I expect to get $3500 if sold on the street with fresh paint. Also my bike has some mods like a full system, with a carbon can, and was dyno tuned by 4&6.. New tires, fluids, brakes, fork seals, and chain/sprockets.. Have to remember that all that costs money, and if he even wants to put a can on it, he's prolly looking at another $300-$400 bucks.. so..

I'd let him sit on it for awhile, and look around for a slightly newer, and more advanced F4i.. Those can be had for roughly the same price.

I am sorta biased, since I don't like factory replica bikes. Just never been a big fan of the Smokin joes or the Repsol.. just me tho..

If your friend plans on buying this bike as a collectors item and not really riding it it may be a good deal. It will surely appreciate a little as time goes on and other Smokin' Joes get trashed. But if he wants a rider I personally would look for something a little more common that won't be hard to find parts for if he tosses it across the ground.

I would say you should get the bike for about $3,500. I sold my F4 in mint condition 2 years ago with 11k miles for $4k.

Minty clean $3500 max. It's still 8 years old and you can get newer clean fuel injected bikes around the 4k range fairly easily. I picked up an exceptionally clean '97 f3 last winter with 2100 miles for $2400 and sold it 2 months later for $3100 but the smokin' joe will hold value better in the long run. Low miles are definitely a plus, but keep in mind if it hasn't been ridden much it may have sat for a long time and might possibly need a good carb cleaning.

If he buys it, tell him he can't join CLSB. I already have the only allowed SJ

Seriously, that's a decent price for how low mileage; I paid $3k for a nearly mint SJ with 24k miles.

But unless he REALLY wants a SJ edition, I'd rather pony up $4500 for a 01+ F4i and get into a fuel injected 600cc.

Unless this is his first bike, then tell him to save the $$ and pickup another F3 for around $3k and spend the extra $1500 on gear and whatnot.

I have a friend with a 96-98 CBR600 for sale...I believe it is a Smoking Joe; maybe just the school bus yellow/purple scheme.

PM me for more info.
