They just use your Microsoft Passport ID if you already have one.

I used an email I hardly ever use anymore as with anything you ever subscribe for. They will send you a verification email though!

They don't check your microsoft legality just asks for shipping addy and stuff like that.

Incase there's any confusion heres a pic of what to do
