Any DirecWay (DIRECTV Satellite Data) Users?

Anyone using this? I'm thinking about getting it for my cottage up north where I can't get DSL or cable.

http://www.direcway.com

Any input/advice is appreciated.

Thanks
Ron

I use it, what do ya need to know?

Basics are, be sure to get the higher end system, much more reliable than the lower end system. It works fine, but expect problems during storms (satellite). If you have no other alternative, it is the way to go.

I have it at my lake house and have had it for 3-4 yrs now. Old system sucked... the newer one works great for what it is.

And I concur... latency is an issue, but it beats the hell out of a modem.

Hope that helps...

thanks for your input, I have no other choice up north where my cottage is and I'm trying to do 4 day weeks in the office and 3 day weekends up there during the summer but need something faster than 28K dialup which is the best I can get right now.

That's why I use it. I try to go to the lake house as much as I can and work from there. It appears however this year that my NESBA addiction will be significantly reducing my trips to Lake of the Ozarks however....

Its a lake house, you dont need internet. Go there to get away from everything.

Oh and Wink if your not going to be using the house. Someone else might be able to get some use out of it

note to self, don't post plans for summer cottage that will reveal my fiendish yet flawed plan to avoid 5 day "in office" work week. ;-)
