Back in my day...

You could find a radio station that didn't suck. In the 8 years I've lived here, every decent rock/alternative station has been killed or mutated in a POS.

I've resorted to 88.7, a college station that broadcasts about 8 square blocks.

I subscribed to XM and while there is some selection, the compression they use makes it sound like poo.

I agree XM doesn't always have the best sound, but it sounds a lot better than what is coming out of local stations

Back in the day when I was young I'm not a kid anymore...

I remember when you could get a Super Transfer on Sundays for CTA and ride all day with that paper transfer.

I remember when you would be able to get a bag of fries at almost any game room. Got mild sauce?

I remember when Englewood was murder capitol of the city and now it's plans are to be totally revamped towards improvement.

I also remember have a jherri curl, being a part of the break dance revolution and with music you could listen to anything no matter who made it and not get flak about it.

POST PICS!

No IM, no cell phones, GI Joe always won and no one ever died; and at the end they taught a lesson.

We played games outside like freeze tag and hide & seek, used our imaginations, and didn't have parents burning us out on "structure." We had never heard of a "play date."

Jungle gyms were all metal and the ground was asphalt... somehow we survived.

When you got in trouble at school you got in worse trouble at home.

Never a bad time to climb... unless the weather is really horrible, and then you climb inside!

I remember back in the day when you would sneak out of your friends house to go play cool night games like Ghost in the Graveyard. Now people sneak to the basement to play video games.

back in the day....

the music you listened to ...your parents HATED.....unlike now where they listen to what the kids listen too...

when your parents used to know EVERYTHING you did and everyone you hung out with...and didnt need cellphones for thier fucking kids to try to find out where they were...all my parents had to do was call my friends parents on a landline and know exactly where we were at all times...

that you used to actually be able to have underage party's...get kegs of beer from local bars and host party's...and if the cops did show up...they just kicked everyone out...if you got busted with open containers, the cops just took them and let u go about your way as long as you were driving safely....

movies didnt cost 20 bucks to get int he door to go see for a dating couple...and you could spen all day at the theaters jumping from 1 movie to another when no one was paying attention...

...plus my gf was with me saying "omg slow down, slow down" and I was thinking "Lose annoying squalk box in passenger seat, afford more mods and have less weight in the car and on the back of the bike"...so i dumped her and I'm single again as usual...HERE KITTY KITTY!!!

Back in my day life was simple:

No iPods, no cellphones, no credit card bills, no mortgage, no stupid managers who don't know a thing about leadership, no IM and we had to boot our computers using a 5 and 1/4 floppy disk.

Back in my day :

little girls looked and acted like little girls, not whores in training.

watching a violent movie did not mean we go out and shoot each other.

carrying a baseball bat around meant we were going to play baseball/softball.

drugs were something we took only when we got sick.

I agree.

Back in my day, we got up at 8 am and went out to the park and played baseball, tackle, fast pitch, diving catches with a Nerf football, and stuff like that until 5 pm, and then it was "supper time". We were NEVER inside.

We would play basketball, soccer, hockey all day and at night we would play spotlight tag, kick the can, etc.. and our parents could never get us to come in to eat a PB&J. Because we felt we would miss something all we needed was a jug of water or better yet a garden hose (remember when we could drink out of the garden hose before Aquafina, Before Fiji, Before all this bottled water "that is healthier), but somehow we survived. Now all kids want to do is type online, play video games and drink softdrinks eat crap, and mooch of their parents as long as they can b/c they have enabled them since day one

you just brought my childhood back to me in those couple sentences... lol

- tree houses, tire swings and ziplines...

- i didn't have bills to pay or deadlines to meet...

- girls circled yes or no if they liked me and i never had to worry about leaving a good voicemail

It's not the fall that hurts... it's the sudden stop at the end...

I remember (back in the days)
When i just a little niggerole
I looked up to my bigger bro
Begged if i could kick it so
When he went out with girls i could go taggin along
Naggin if she had a sis maybe could mack a baby hoodrat
Y'all remember way back then, when it was 1985
All the way live, i think i was about ten
One of those happy little niggaz singin the blues
That be always tryin to bag with the shag and karate shoes
Sayin "yo momma black, his momma this, his momma that"
Then he get mad and wanna scrap
We stay mad about, ten minutes then it's like back on the bike
To play hide and go get it with the younger hoes by the bungaloes
Then switch to playin ding dong ditch, when that gets
Old and too cold to hack it, threw on a bomber jacket
You could tell the ballers cuz they bell wearin gazelles
And if they really had money raised be sportin bk's
And, all the girls had they turkish link
If it broke then they made earrings to it, like they meant to do it
But, sometimes, i still sit and reminesce
Then, think about the years i was raised, back in the days
