Photo Final Help

Ok people... i have been comming up with some ideas as to what i can shoot for this... I can choose anything to my liking.
But i want it to be something i have total access too. I need 6-12 prints...
Some ideas:
1. Bars ( people in bars, dark lighting, older/classier bars)
2. Bike shoot (set up a photo studio kinda in my garage, have some cool lighting, and use a couple of bikes.... different angles, different lighting)
3. Love sanarios ( go to couples and take pics. of kissing or holding hands... shit like that, don't use the dirty mind though )

But the thing is that these are in black and white, and for the bar i would need a tripod and corporation of people in the bar... which i can get i am sure.. but would be a lil more difficult. But could always get friends in bars too ..

Any ideas?!

Bikes can be replaced...people can't...ride safe!!

Ever consider a Skyline Shot downtown? Or, a "from the ground looking up" view of a skyscraper?

If you’re pursuing a career in photography I’d choose a concept that pushes your normal comfort level. Take advantage of saying “this is for a school project” to add some good pieces to your professional portfolio.

Since its B&W keep in mind the subject matter. Of the suggested ideas I like the bars the best, but I wouldn’t use a tripod. Use a higher ISO film and avoid the awkwardness of using a tripod for this type of shot, unless you’re doing more formal portraits.

Some other ideas:

In college I used to photograph abandoned buildings. Although I don’t recommend this do to safety and trespassing laws I have some amazing prints. The most notable for me was the burnt out warehouse in china town where Backdraft was filmed.

Old and New: With all the new construction going up it would be cool to photograph the old vs. new with a unique perspective and fresh eye.

Women’s Shelter or Local Boys & Girls Club: Volunteer a day to photography at one of these facilities. It may sound strange but it would be appreciated and would be a wonderful experience for you.

Nature: If you decide to photography nature I’d suggest experimenting with technique. Try using an extremely low ISO film with a dark filter which would require a long exposure and tripod. With this technique you can make water look like cotton candy. Another technique is to use inferred film and filter to create a fun a unique feel.

Good luck!

Yeah. Just convert this to B&W and you'll get an A+ for sure. Especially if the teacher is a man......or a lesbian!

You know what... I was thinking of doing pics of myself too... because that would be easy, and i can do my own thing... but i have to run it by the teacher. She said that one girl did herself in the nude.... it was cool. I saw them. But if i was to do that, i would do it like a photoshoot kinda set up, not just me chillin or anything like that. But yea... was thinkin about that !

I'm not so sure complete nudes would be the answer, but a close up's of body parts would be cool. Say a close up of a stomach maybe with a slight mist of water or baby oil to simulate sweat. in black and white that could look very cool.

Okay bear with me on this idea........Do a human/industrial shoot.

Get nice shot of a couple holding hands and a pic of guys with blue prints

then a baby & a new buildings foundation

a child & an almost complete building

teenager & a working building (people coming in and out)

an adult & a semi rundown building

an old person & a building vacant

a grave sight & a torn down building

I know its hard to find these but the story could really be good depending on your shots.........

Okay so i was trying to be creative.......

You know what... that is one of the best ideas i've heard. If I had access to all that ... i would totally do it!
I think i am goin towards more of the body shots though... like HD said.... it's just that i have total access to myself, and can shoot whenever and where ever and do whatever... that i can use my imagination more.
I already am getting excited about it!

We had a gal do totally nude pics in my class. She didnt win but they sure were fun looking at in the developing room And ALL we did was look ! Our teach was one who didnt want us to do really 'literal telling a story' kinds of things so those were harder to do, and we had to stay more in the abstract. I do like Kellys idea tho.

That idea is amazing Kelly. I might have to tell someone about that. Hunny the photos of yourself is a really cool idea and to just do different parts, not the whole thing would keep it creative.
