Travel help!!!!!

We are in a predicament.

We are going on a cruise this weekend out of "The port of Miami". Leaves Friday at 5pm. Gets back Monday at 9am. 4 days 3 nights. Nice little 4 day get away.

I have free round trip plane tickets (southwest airlines frequent flyer miles) from Chicago Midway to Ft. Lauderdale.

The problem is we need to get from Fort Lauderdale to The port of Miami. It's approximately 24 miles.

http://www.mapquest.com/directions/m...20%26%20Motels

I need help finding a way to get from Point A to point B and back on Monday. All of the Shuttles and private charter buses cost an arm and a leg. They cost like 80 bucks one way!

I can rent a fucking car for 40 dollars a day!!! JEESH!

So I'm thinking public transportation. But there is nearly no EXACT information if we can get from Lauderdale to The port of Miami.

Can anyone help us out with some ideas on a cheaper way to get to where we have to go.

Thanks,

Nick and Rachel

I was under the impression that the cuirse ships provide shuttle service to BOTH miami and Ft Laud. apts? That is what I did in the past.

Given the fact that you will have all your luggage with you, I suggest just taking the shuttle. It's so hot down there, and can be very humid as well....you will be much happier spending a few extra dollars and have you and your stuff taken care of. Plus, it's a guaranteed way to the port without having to owrry about getting to the right palce at the right time.

The only other suggestions i have is to go to the ft laud. apt website and find a list of car services that serve the apt. SOmetimes a car is cheaper than a taxi.

Well, I just got off the phone with the cruise line and the shuttle service is closed to the port. It's through Greyhound. They close the option to take the shuttle 2 weeks prior to the cruise. FUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

do a google search. I am sure there are other shuttles that go there-- that area revolves around the curise ships. i have been out of that port about 5 times and have never had a problem.... keep at it.

cruises aren't cheap. 80 one way isn't bad for a car service. I'd take it. dont' forget, that's also an expensive area.

This is another option: Using the tri-rail down to Miami and then hopping a quick cab ride to the port.

Never a bad time to climb... unless the weather is really horrible, and then you climb inside!

The question is does the tri rail have a stop at the airport? Or do we need to take a cab to get to the tri rail from the airport?

The rail has a stop at FLL and at MIA. I believe you just need to take a cab from MIA to the port, or there maybe a shuttle since it is so close.
