Holy Crap why would a Co. do this

We're leaving for our co. x-mas party in 5 minutes and they just sent an e-mail notification of layoffs firmwide.

Maybe they are hoping someone gets pissed off and brings an uzi with so they don't have to pay severances.????

thats just not right... but letting the whole company know you got laid off... might be a lawsuit in there somewhere.

Potential lawsuit... tons of bad P.R. - morale issues with those who were not let go... just a shitty way to do things.

Part of my job here is administering the severance plan - we would NEVER do it that way.

We had a guy get laid off 2 days before the X-mass party no bonus, no warning. Just good morning we dont need ya. Then the service director got demoted same day. Then we fired a guy at the x-mass party. That was an event. But calmer heads prevailed (actually they just sobered up) and the guy wasn't actually fired at the party.

People should always be told about being laid off in person and before everyone else is told.

They must have just made the decision after projecting the 4th wuarter numbers. They probably don't want the headcount on th books at all for '03. It really sucks that X-mas is at the end of the year. It's the busiest time for manufacturing and when a lot of companies decide to trim headcount.

You guys misunderstood....They didn't list the people getting layed off they just announce there would be cuts.

Tom, I laugh because it's all I can do at this point. You would probably have to be here to understand what everyone here has gone through. Sorry to sound like a prick.

People don't know officially who is getting let go but most have a very good idea.

Dan I will not be one of those let go. Fortunately I work for a part of the company that is a cash cow and under a situation where we could break off from the company at will. They seem to have a little more respect for us

Ok It just didnt make sence to me................Trust Me I understand.............Our companys going thru it too. I didnt think you sounded like a prick, because I too have laughed when certain retards get the ax, some people just dont deserve the job they have, its the ones that work hard, do their job the way its supposed to be done and get caught up in the cuts because they havent kissed enough ass, that I feel sorry for.
The saying is still true no matter what.... Its not what ya know its who ya blow...........there has never been a truer statement.
