Any fly fishermen/women out there?

Just wondering if anyone is an avid fly fisherman? I've been doing it for about a year and I am getting somewhat addicted to it. I've started tying my own fly patterns and I'm looking for good streams to hit some smallies, trout, etc.

So, if you have any such places or want to come fish mine during the hatch, post up!!! Or any hints/tips is appreciated.

You gotta contact Will Neumann another NESBA A rider. He is a nut about fly fishing.

The dupage is a really good smallie river. I don't fish anymore but when I was a kid I fished that river everyday. Best spots were north of Black Road in Shorewood back in the day.

Yeah, I used to be the Fly Fishing coordinator for the Illinois Smallmouth Alliance. I tie and recently started building rods, total addiction.....I'm taking a class in June to build a split cane rod(bamboo). Smallies, Hell yeah!!!! As mentioned above the Dupper is good, also the Fox and the Kankakee. For all the different flies I've tied for smallies I'm convinced the way to go is a variety of colors in Wooly buggers and very sparsely tied Clouser Deep Minnows, Artic Fox fur on the Clousers works great for the back, but remember....sparse. My smallie rig is a St. Croix Legend Ultra 6 weight, a 7 might be better in the wind but the 6 keeps it fun since you get a lot of dinkers fly fishing. Let's hook it up dude! I only got out for smallies once last year and trout twice.

Still got the old Honda! I'm trying to look for a 8/9 weight rod/reel so I can head up to Root river in Racine over spring break. That's a whole new experience for me.

As for smallies and hooking up...I have a busy spring break, but I might be able to get away for a day. I wanted to got to Black Earth Creek near Madison. I'm thinking of catching the hatch again down here in Kankakee. I've got a great spot off of 113 that I'll have to introduce you guys to.

The tying is still getting me revved up. I just ordered some CDC for some emergers for the hatch. I still need to get some decent hackle.
