Deer Hit

Hope this isn't a repost. A guy is riding while video taping and hits a deer. Pretty amazing stuff.

Ouch...looks all too familiar.

I got lucky with mine last year on Finey (Downers Grove) between the right/left sweepers where it intertwines with I355...

She was in the middle of the road, facing to my left.. I figured aim just past her ass (to my right)... and as expected, she double backed on me and I smacked her head (I was probably slowed down to about 30-40 by then and the body was not turned around by then, that's why I aimed for that spot)... Kept it upright but she bent the shit out of the headlight assembly bars and cracked some pieces.
She took a tumble and got up and ran away.. to this day my left shin has a bald spot where the impact and shear with my pants took the hair off my leg.

Everyone Exaggerates

We're being taken for a ride... agaaaaaaain.....

Saw that vid a long time ago, but every time I find myself on a side street at night I reflect on it. When those eyes on the side of the road are glowing from my headlights I get pretty nervous.

Things that will save your ass (assuming you have the reaction time or spot them soon enough):

Lose as MUCH speed as possible, and FAST.

Be upright when you get to them, do NOT swerve at the last minute. Pick your spot and aim for it... you stand a better chance being upright than you do leaned over.
(I'm still not sure if statistically all females double-back and males continue forward or not... that would be worth finding out if any sort of study has been done).

Pray really really fast
