I go through this every month when I pay bills, I try to keep everything similar, but different sites have different requirements, total PITA . Then you can't write it down because someone will take that information and become you . We need to use DNA or retna scanners to simplify this.

I mentally convert mine when I need them.

Think of a different phrase for each thing that is easy to associate/remember (passphrase), then using the same hashing method for each one, start hashing the phrase. Boom, there's your password. Each one unique, each one obtainable as long as you've mentally associated something with each that you'll never forget. It's far less mental work that way.

Don't share the phrases, don't share whatever hashing method you use.

I did that for a few months..then I started using online bill paying with the bank. Once you set up a bill, you just login and type in the amount to pay. Most utilities already have address information on file. It is just as simple as typing in all the numbers and *blam*, bill is paid in a few days. The only one I still write checks for is local water/sewer/garbage.

There are plenty of good password software tracking out there that is totally secure... all you have to do is remember (or change your main one) as long as you are using only one computer it will store, generate and do a lot for you when it comes to passwords.

Just search online for one that you would like, some of them are even free.

This thread shows the importance of wearing a helmet . You screw up your noodle, there is no way you will be able to survive in this electronic environment .

Make sure you aren't saving your passwords in firefox, anyone could get on your comp and go through a few options and get every password and username for any site you have ever been on.

It's under Tools>Options>Privacy>Passwords>ViewPasswords.
