New or Used 600RR

So finding a used RR in black is a pain in the butt. I have found an '03 locally at ArlingtonMotorsports with ~6500 miles on it with a Jardine pipe and they want $6999. I tried negogiating but they wont take a dime less then that. So that makes it a ~$7500 out the door purchase, Stu said he could get me a new bike for ~$9000 out the door.

I was plannign on putting 2k down on it and finance the rest for 2 years, on the new bike i would have to put 3k down but still finance for 2 years.

Opinions?

Yeah, I've been to that place a couple times. They don't budge on pricing, but they must be doing something not too bad since they've been in business for years. But they don't budge and their setup/inspection fee is sky high, so I don't do business there.

If you expand your search to a few surrounding states you might find one. For example, on Cycle Trader, put the region to "great Lakes" and that includes IL,WI,MN, IN, OH. You should find one in that region.

Hondas are always the most expensive brand in the big four. That cost estimate isn't too far off the mark.

Someone won't budge on a 3 year old bike? That's a shame. I'd guess they took it in trade or wholesale for $5800ish. That's a nice profit margin if you can get it I suppose.

I would offer $7K for the '03 all included. Tell them you'll bring a check and they give you the keys. If they roll fees/taxes/etc into that price you're doing okay. If not - you're on your own.

Were you planning to get full coverage insurance on it regardless? I know that Honda used to require it before they'd sell you the bike on anything you finance. Just a thought.

Yeah I said I would give them $6200 cause that would roughly be $7k OTD he said no. I said $7k OTD he said "no, black is rare and it is too early in the season to haggle on prices with a used bike".

Yeah full coverage regardless.

I would have told him that it's too early in the season to deal with ignorant bike salesman and split.

Unless you're fiending for a bike - I'd wait a bit. The squid rush should quiet down in a month and you might find some better options out there. Just a thought.

Yeah thats the plan as of now. I came to that realization last night as Stu was trying to sell me some '04 rashed Gixxer 600. I will wait until the bike I want comes along at my price.

Good idea. Keep an eye out on all the usual places. One should pop up soon. I'm in the same boat, but you're ahead of me..you at least know what you want!

I'm torn between SV1000S, Warrior, and that M109R sure looked pretty at the dealership. Oh, and I might jump on a Triumph Legend (900cc triple cruiser) if one is close.

I have a complete set of stock bodywork for a 2003 RR in the "rare" black. Has almost zero mileage, so it's in great shape.

I am running the fender, would have to get Skinz fender I guess. $900. Just an option, if you can't find it in the right color. You could e-bay the stock plastics and have a new-looking bike.

FORGET ARLINGTON, goto Des Plaines Honda and get a new 600RR for real cheap. They beat CCC in pricing by a mile. I bought my 1000RR there in March, great group.

hey there,

First thing that came to my mind was 'damn, that's a big ass rear tire'. I can imagine a rear tire change with the shaft drive and a heavy ass 240 tire being a bitch. Hell, it was a bitch on the Maxim with a 140 tire

I didn't even try and lift it, just gawked at it. The fuel tank is huge, so I can imagine it's pretty top heavy with a full tank. I hope Suzuki revamps the entire cruiser lineup though, right now that's the only one that isn't cookie cutter boring.

I can also find Warriors used for about 1/2 the price of a new M109R.

They just had a write up in 1 of the mags for the Big Suzuki.

I would def look at the warrior.. Nice bike

And if you want a big tire that's possible to even with stock rim.
