They do this stuff every summer. I'm used to it now. Then by winter the prices will go down, but be a little higher than what they were a year earlier. So last winter low may have been 2.08, then next winter's low will be 2.39
Steadily increasing the price every year.

See what I mean, they do this quite often. They know the summer time is when Americans do all of their road hogging = lots of $. Many people didn't even pull their bikes out till about 2 weeks ago, and what do you know, prices have went up considerably in the last 2 weeks

Exactly, they do little test with the prices to see how people react, similar to the Dinosaurs on Jurassic Park touching the electric fence. Once you see that people still continue to do thier daily grind regardless of what you have charged, you have no incentive to decrease the price to $1.50 again.

Hey now.. 36 billion dollars in profits for 2005 is a horrible thing for a company to have to live through. (Look up stock ticker XOM). I mean, that's only 9.75% profit.. they're hurting and need to make that higher, so dig deep and get in line for $5.00 a gallon. The next CEO needs a retirement package too.

Complaining is unamerican, and you're probably helping terrorists win!

Actually they do know why. The ethenol thats added to their blends ran short for summer fuel production (ironically not the gas companies fault here). They are making it, just its not getting to the stations like it should had been already.

But isnt it ust plain idiotic to base prices on SPECULATION? This is just another example of history repeating itself. Happened back in the 70's about the same way. Gas keep going up and up then the real oil shortage and bam nasty recession. Here we go again.

BTW anyone remember when gas was $.35-$.45/gallon in about 74-75?
