Digital camera software help

I have an olympus D-460 camera. It came with the Camedia software. Which I lost a while ago. So when I reformated I had nothing to put back in there. which didnt matter anyways because that shit was old and probably wouldnt have worked well with XP anyways. Now I need something to Get some pics out of my camera. Anybody have a newer version of camedia. Or know of anyway to download pics without the software. This camera comes with a serial cable to transfer.

I don't know much about your camera Tony but I know I don't even use the software for mine. I just use one of the Microsoft programs on my PC. Seems to be more user friendly than what came with the camera.

Do you need the drivers so your computer recognizes your camera or just the photo software to edit etc ? I have the photo software too, obviously you can "borrow" it. If its the drivers you need so you can connect to your computer... maybe the Olympus website? not sure. You may have realized by now that Im not the worlds..err sites... most advanced computer guru. Hell Im probably not even the best in my house. My 8 year old will be running circles around me soon.

Let me know if you want to "try" my photo software Tony.

I don't think that it is dude, sorry. I'm having someone look to verify,( I don't have it, someone else does), though he said that he downloaded a better version for free, he's running XP. He also said that it's not necessary to get the images out. When you hook it up it should as you what you want to do with the stuff. As I understand it once you hook it up you should be able to right click explore on the start menu and it is listed as a removable drive.

Hope that helps, I'll let you know if he finds the disk.

That's how I always get mine from the Camera. It should recognize it.

Check the Olympus web site if you need drivers/software.

Yup...

I know I'm late on this ... but yeah Tony if you hook your camera up via the USB port and you're using Windows XP, the camera should show up under 'My Computer' or the windows explorer as another drive. It may have a folder structure it keeps the pictures in but they're in there.

WinXP also has a very nice feature where it will download and erase the pictures for you... it usually starts the wizard up automatically when it detects a digi cam hooked up to the USB port.

Mines not usb its serial. That usually throws a wrench in the works as far as plug and play. But I am going to try it later.

Ok here's the deal...

Looks like you DO need to use Camedia. Unfortunately it's not available for download from the website. The UPGRADE, which you need to download for windows XP compatibility, is here. Maybe try to call and get them to send you a version of it... you need 2.5 installed and the upgrade will upgrade you to 2.51.

Tony,
The guy with the Camedia disc has it at home so I couldn't get it yesterday, I not in the office today. Let me know if you still need it Thursday and I get it somehow, burn a copy and we'll figure it out from there.
