"I'll just be careful." - Hurrrooo. Wouldn't being careful include wearing safey gear. What a dope.

Regardless, I hope the "pool of blood" was not from his head and I really hope the guy is all right.

If you ain't with us, then it's just bad news.

Wonderful Logic

His logic for not wearing a helmet: No law in PA.....

"Obviously Pennsylvania doesn't think people need to (wear a helmet)," he said. "There's a law you've got to wear it in football."

And it was his head.

PITTSBURGH - Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger was injured in a motorcycle crash Monday morning and was taken to a hospital, a team spokesman said.

The spokesman, Dave Lockett, spoke to reporters outside Mercy Hospital just after noon, but would not provide additional details about the accident.

"He was alert and conscious," said Ernie Roman, shift commander for the Allegheny County emergency service.

Roethlisberger was not wearing a helmet.

Pittsburgh television stations broke in immediately and stopped regular programming for more than an hour.

He ran into an oncoming car, flipped over his cycle and smacked his head off the vehicle's windshield. He also hit his head on the pavement, WTAE-TV reported.

He was bleeding profusely from his head and was "extremely disoriented," according to WTAE.

Several eyewitnesses said Roethlisberger did not know what city he was in.

Roethlisberger has said in the past that he prefers not to wear a helmet when riding his motorcycle. He has pointed out Pennsylvania's 35-year-old state law requiring helmets to be worn was amended to make helmets optional.

In May 2005, Steelers coach Bill Cowher lectured Roethlisberger on the dangers of riding without a helmet.

"He talked about being a risktaker and I'm not really a risktaker. I'm pretty conservative and laid back, but the big thing is to just be careful," Roethlisberger said at the time. "I'll just continue to be careful. I told him we don't ever ride alone, we always ride in a group of people, and I think it makes it even more safe."

If you ain't with us, then it's just bad news.

I wish him well, and hope he heels up quick......He's a big boy, and can make his own decisions, so I won't comment about the helmet situation.

Yes, I am bored today

On his official blog many people express their concern for his decision to ride w/o a helmet (gotta scroll down a bit, easiest to search for helmet on the page).
