Results of My roomate search

Alright, so I posted paid $20 and got on a Chicago area roomate locator website. I've gotten 3 good replies.

1) 22 year old asian female in Nebraska. Just graduted college with a degree in Psychology... and want ot move ot our fair city.

2) 25 year old male hotel executive dude that used to ride motocross years ago. But I replied and haven't heard back.

3) 20 year old married white female bisexual (Ashley Jo). She was in the navy for a couple years (her husband still is) and she's a dancer. Hye, maybe I'll get a partner for going running or to the gym. I think some dancers workout regularly to stay in good form.

#1 & #3 both seem pretty safe. I'll give them a call next week and get a better idea for their personality.

Worst case, I'm only stuck with them for maybe 2 months and I'm going to get a lock to my bedroom and the garage.

For some reason I trust female roomates more.

What do you guys think. I know Ken will have some interesting remarks about #3.

At least I get my rent paid in cash. Besides, I don't have any money lying around anyway. What do I have ot worry about.

As a roomate #1, probably is better, but she can't move in until March.

#3 sounds like a lot of problems to me. I would look for others or possibly #1.
I don't think I would want a male roommate either because there usually lazy and don't like to keep the house together.

G'Luck finding a roommate. Have you tried asking around your place of work or really don't wanna deal with anyone from your work? Atleast then you would have some sort of idea about them and how reliable they are.

the only thing i'd be wary (sp?) about is smell. it sounds retarded but when people cook stuff that smells....it bugs the shit out of me. i'd find out what kind of cooking they plan on doing. also, with the girl from out of state, i'd make sure she has a job lined up before she moves in with you. no job = no rent = no good.
i think #3's husband could be a problem....jealousy issues, etc. plus, who knows what kind of guys or girls (in her case) she may end up picking up while dancing and bringing back to your place. you wouldn't want your bachelor pad to turn into "cherry's little whorehouse!" then again, you may be able to get her to pose on the bike. i'd try to ask around with friends if they know anyone looking for a place before getting a random stranger.

Ummm...

Try www.easyroommate.com and www.roommateclick.com

Get to know these people first, too. I moved in with 3 peeps I didn't know and thankfully it's worked out kind of OK.

That bisexual stripper girl sounds pretty cool

Ken's right on the dancer. Probably trouble, and definately keep the valuables locked. Even if she won't steal, her friends probably will. An alarming number of them are coke heads, drug fiends. If she isn't, probably a friend is.

Does the first one have a job? Or a phone number for me?

I'll have to check these websites out. I need to find somebody to finance the bike habit of mine.

There are exceptions to every rule of course, but in general strippers are scammers. Many of them lie so much and so often that they can't even tell the difference any more. Their existance relies on playing games and having a different view on the value of money and relationships with people.

If I were you, I'd give this some serious thought before going that way. It might be ok, but is more likely to bring things into your life you probably don't want.

I agree, I know dancers that are good people, but the majority are PROBLEMATIC. Lots of lies, and in many cases lots and lots of drugs. I would think twice even though it sounds pretty sweet. Her husband WILL be a problem too. Don't be surprised when he moves in with her, along with her friend from the club who just got evicted from her place, blah, blah, etc, etc...

Mike,

The stripper is Trouble with a capital T.

I did the roommate thing for some years myself. I've gotten some through ads and some through referrals.

1) Is this for your new townhome? You don't want to have it seized if there is prostitution or drug dealing being done by shady roommates.

2) Screen them thoroughly. If you can get references, get them.
There is also a way of getting credit ratings on them.

3) I'm going to sound a little contrarian here. The female roommate may be an impediment to dating. I'm not saying definitely, just potentially.

4) Since you will be living with this person, make sure you can get along with them, unless you are a person who will be spending a lot of time in your room alone. To be perfectly honest, the motocross guy may be a good match on this point as you both have a common interest in bikes.

5) The Chicago Reader has free roommate ads (or at least they did 5 years ago). But they won't let you specify that you are looking for a straight roommate.

Well that sucks.

I got it.. Get the 2 girls and G2G! Think how much you would save in hot water alone if you share shower time.

Pulled up in front of them and walked up and told them to get the fuc out of the car from passanger side. They refused and locked doors. I punched the window a cuple of times to break it open but all it did was flex. Went to the drivers side and did the same thing. The look on there faces was priceless. When she got home later that night she acted like there was nothing wrong. This is her plan to try to piss me off to the point where I snap and f this guy up or lay a finger on her. I know in the long run if I do do this I will hurt me in the long run. This is the most physical I have got with this predicament. I just want her out of my life so she can see how the grass is not always greener on the other side. And I will not take her back after this guy sucks her money dry and treats her like shiit. I always say what comes around goes around so he will get his eventuly.
