selling a car - title question...

Ok - I know there are a lot of these questions lately, but I can't seem to find the answer online anywhere.

I bought a car last July. I had planned on getting it running and on the road, so I signed the title. But I ended up just parking the car and never got it registered or even drove the car. Now someone is coming to buy the car.

With the previous owner signing and dating it when he sold it to me, and myself having signed and dating it, what kind of problems will this cause?

What do I have to get done or what does the new buyer have to do in order to get the title transferred?

Thanks!

Candice

I think because the title is fully signed, you are going to have to go to the DMV, and take care of it there, you will probably have to pay taxes and possibly a late fee, not 100% sure on that though...

turn the bars left and go right; that just isn't right

yep...not sure about a late fee, just tell them you were getting the car up and running...

big prob u have is signing it...so now u have NO CHOICE but to register it...sorry, but thats the law...

...plus my gf was with me saying "omg slow down, slow down" and I was thinking "Lose annoying squalk box in passenger seat, afford more mods and have less weight in the car and on the back of the bike"...so i dumped her and I'm single again as usual...HERE KITTY KITTY!!!

thanks for the help...

i did decide to call and see if there was a way to avoid the fees. after on hold for 20 minutes the lady said, yes, you'd be lying but there is a way. get a form called 'affirmation of correction' and have the previous seller sign it and saying i never picked up the car. and that form then acts as the title transfer. luckily i know the previous owner and he is only about 10 minutes from here.
