Well I'm screwed.

I ordered tires friday and specifically asked if they would be here by wednesday due to my track day TOMORROW. Fast forward to today... I called to get a tracking # and "well they haven't went out yet sorry". This is after they assured me I'd have them today. After a bunch of bitching the tires will be here tomorrow (no use now) but I got a set of pilot powers for $225 shipped. I called DGY to see if they had a set I could buy and those crazy a$$holes want $380 for the set and another $105 to install if I bring in JUST THE WHEELS!

So now Michelle and I wasted $280 on a trackday that we don't have tires for

She has pirelli diablos (not corsas) on her bike now that are in decent shape but I dunno if I trust riding those on the track. What do you guys think?

Have you checked if there is tire service at the track day?

4&6 or Matt Drucker might be able to get you a set by then. Matt's a 2 1/2 hour drive east on 80 but if the track day is already paid for it might be worth the run. He's always low on tire prices and mounts for nada if you bring the wheels.

Try Chicago Performance in Northlake, they used to do tire service and might have some on hand.

Lupi got his tires put on at Woodfield Motor Sports for about $30 a rim off the bike if that helps.

I have a new set of GP-A's in the 120 / 180 Size Pair.

I forget what I paid Drucker for 'em.... no prob if you need 'em.

You might get lucky and catch Jim to mount them for you if you pull your wheels.

The owner of chicago performance is a crook, not going there.

Looks like it's 250 miles round trip out to matt's place. $280 for 208GPs and he'll install them for free

Are they decent tires? I've never ridden anything besides diablo corsa's

I really like 208GP's. I think you'll find more grip with them than on the DCs. They seem to go away predictably too.

They are great tires......

I can save you the drive .....if you work out the mounting thing.

In fact, you can pay Matt and tell him to bring them to me at Autobahn on the 3rd... I just got four sets from Matt they are in the Garage.

I ride my 208's all the way to the edge of the tire all the time. I also like the feedback they give you when you're pushing it a wee bit too much. Predictable and consistant has been my observation with them.

EDIT note: I have the 208s

Everyone Exaggerates

BTW......

The 208GP-A's are great track tires.

I would not use them on the street..... too cold blooded
for street use.... IMO they are track only.

Dunlop Qualifiers or Pilot Powers are good dual-duty tires.

Posted it already today, but I picked up a set of Dunlop Qualifiers from Des Plaines Honda for about $230 out the door, 190 rear and 120 front. They have them in stock. Use Jim to mount them and you're setup for $270.

She should be perfect fine with the tires she has on know. I can run 18's on the pirelli diablo (non corsas) on my SV. She should have no problems at all. I have a front Pirelli slick all you have to do is find a rear. It is brand new. If you need it let me know I have to extra you know my #.

Also check out racer cafe. They're out in St. Charles. Free mounting and balancing and fair prices. Owner is a good guy, free pop and chips in the shop too! I was there sat. and they had PIlot powers and Diablo Corsas in stock. Might be still there.

ok so I am holding my breath till the tires are actually on my bike BUT a few of my buddies came thru for me (I owe them BIG TIME!!)

One of our friends had ordered the exact same tires (and size) and was getting them installed today!!! I called him in the Nick of time

So he's letting me install them on my bike today and then tomorrow when my tires come, I will be delivering those to him.

What a guy!!!

You guys rock, thanks for all the offers!!! Like meech said a buddy had a brand new setup of pilot powers he was getting installed today. He agreed to postpone that a day so I could use his for the track. Seriously though all the offers in this thread and the PMs are great! It's good to know everyone is willing to help

Welcome to DGY! A$$HOLES!

D208GP's are great! Michelin's or Pirelli's are other great treads.

FWIW, next time you guys order tires online, order from dennis kirk.

Have them match the price of whatever the cheapest source you find. You'll get the tires in 2 days from MN, vs 4-5 days from CA.
