I'm pretty sure for those "big sparklers" you need a special license to possess. I use to know a guy that would get the mortors that shows would use. He had a 5 gallon bucket filled with cement and a pvc tube sticking out. The guy moved away though, so now I got nothing.

couple 4th of july's ago my 2 uncles had a couple of those mortors. They pretty much took like air conditioning duct pipe, duct taped the crap out of it, and jammed it in the ground.

They dropped one mortor in the pipe and light it. Needless to say the pipe only worked once sending the mortor about 20 feet off the ground and showering us in sparks. It was the funniest thing I've ever seen in my whole life.

When we checked the pipe it had a giant gash down the side of it. I'm surprized it actually shot up that far into the air haha.

My buddy showed me how to do this last year. It's really cool if it works, but if you don't wrap the electrical tape tight enough, you just have a bunch of sparklers burning for awhile.

Crumble them into a large babyfood jar, and use the lid w/ a hole punched through it for the 'fuse' stick

Duct tape the shit out of the jar&lid too and be nowhere around...

Do not use regular PVC.

you need something like Delrin or even better a nice thick walled Stainless steel pipe.

I heard about a guy who had a delrin or some material pipe in a garbage can filled with road salt for stability, he lit of a 5 inch mortar in the street in front of his house. Cop happened to be sitting at the end of the block with his lights off. needless to say cop rolled down the block and hit his headlights shining right on the tube. He got out of his car shakin his head and in an amazed voice said " what the fuck was that, I haven't seen any shit like that since I was int he military!!!, are you guys fuckin nuts???" If me and some guys had be present we would have been rolling on the floor in the garage laughing our ass off while this guy got reamed by the cop, who eventually was cool with him and let him keep his tube, thank god cause this guy might have had a truck load of shit in the driveway, (thank god he closed that truck lid if he did)

What a great night that was. (allegedly)

Indiana will sell ummmm "giant sparklers". you have to find the smaller sellers that just set up camp during the month before the 4th. buy some regular stuff, then casually ask about the "Good stuff". this will usually get you access to the special back room. The big stores do not have this stuff (such as Kaplans...)
I buy these things called "yarn balls". they are about 1/2 stick. pretty wicked

Yep explosives over a normal firecracker like a Black Cat requires a special licence. When in TN a few weeks ago I was even looking for some places in the sticks that would have m-80's or something. Not a thing, just regular stuff. With all the terror warnings and big bro watching us at every turn I think if you got popped with homemade m-80's you would have the ATF breaking down your door and god help you if your name is arab sounding too. I believe m-80's and explosives of that nature we outlawed in the whole US back in the late 80's. Only can make them yourself now and buy from mom and pop places that make them in their farmhouses FYI in Wis and IN they really take advantage us is Chi-town boys. Last yeat a brick of Black Cat firecrakers in IN cost me 21 bucks, in TN the same thing this year cost me 12.

It's rumored one can make mini grenades with OTC things like

black powder
small funnel
empty CO2 or NO2 cartridge
cannon fuse
silicone adhesive.

but it's probably just a rumor and lack of due care is rumored to be able to kill yourself.. allegedly.

we used to make bombs from Estes rocket engines.

These days I don't see the point, the professional shows are so good-you're just not going to come close.

Lighting off big "sparklers" is priceless. Especially when all the car alarms go off in peoples garages for a three block radius!

I use to love putting big sparklers in rain water sewers. Fuckin water would shoot up 20 ft since they sunk deep with those water proof wicks. Also fun blowing door handles off doors of people or places you had little love for. Man I was a little prick when I was young The best part was how we had the stones to go to ACE hardware back in the day and ask for a 7 in pipe with both ends threaded and then to go even further asked where the threaded end caps were!! Balls the size of boulders Remember always to put grease on the threads before putting the cap in to prevents sparks Yep, playing sports was not for me and my friends we had much more important things to do with our time.
