Need Urgent Vet Help

Our little (she turned 1 on July 11) Birman cat has been diagnosed with a terminal desease yesterday. She was a wedding gift to my wife. I got her only eight months ago and according to the vet we visited yesterday we might lose her now. We are both beyond devastation, but we have hope and will try anything possible to help her recover.

My wife is taking her to see another vet today, but I am affraid she will hear the same thing as she did yesterday. We did a lot of reading on the desease that Cookie has, Feline Infectious Peritonitis (FIP) or Feline Coronavirus and there is treatment available in Europe and Japan, but not in US. I have no idea how to get it. I was hopping that perhaps someone knows a vet who can point me in the right direction on where I can get it.

We are absolutely devastated - our wedding is on August 11 and I just don't know how we'll celebrate it if the "present" is either suffering or dead.

There is a cat specialist in downtown Naperville called Abbeywood Cat Clinic. The doctors there will be able to do everything possible or point you in the right direction. My wife Anne works there as a vet tech.

good luck

www.cathospitalofchicago.com currently cares for my kids.

There's a specialty hospital in Buffalo Grove that may be able to help you as well. www.vetspecialty.com - they treated Rusty with his hepatic lipidosis, and also Sanders when he had his bout of encephalitis.

A good resource for information on feline health is: http://www.vet.cornell.edu/fhc/
