Very bad news and a little disturbing

A very close friend of mine called me this morning telling me that her uncle had killed himself last night. I knew her uncle very well and he was a nice guy and I would of never thought he was going through anything that serious that he would decide to take his own life. Now here is the very disturbing part(if that isn't enough) the method he used was found on the internet. (Which he bought a video from a website) I decided to take a look for myself and it's pretty sad that the world has come to these kinds of sites. I'm actually all for freedom of speech and internet rights.... but it seems to me that certain information out there is does more harm than good in this world. I know it was a unfortunate personal decision what he did. But taking a closer look at what some of the internet has done to us is a pure shame. People who run some of these sites I hope some day will pay for the damage they have done. And I am only speaking of sites dedicated to harm.. such as pedophile, hate, how to make bombs, and these foreign terrorists sites...etc, etc, etc. Sites that have "how to" videos on how to kill yourself for example... WTF . I will not link any of the sites I have viewed this morning but to know this kind of crap out there is disturbing. You want to know why this world is getting so F'd? up just look around you a little closer. And maybe it's time we get a little more legislation on the internet. Sorry for the rant but today has started off just BAD.

Sorry for your loss my friend - RIP

I understand what you are saying, but I feel the Internet needs to stay open and unrestricted with the exception of kiddie porn.
Also, first and foremost I am sorry to hear about the loss.

RIP sorry for your loss.

This is terrible. I am so sorry.

I am in agreement with Philly, though. Even if we took these sites away, there was still always the 'ol Anarchist Cookbook, and people were still committing suicide. The Internet has only made info easier to come by...I'd like to think also that it's made HELP easier to come by too...

Sorry to hear about your loss. Those sites though, didnt make him do it, some other reason was the root of his research. I am sure you can find books in the library with the same type of content if youre looking for it.

Sorry for you loss Man.

It is disturbing what can be found on the internet, but I doubt there has been an increase in suicides since this information became available. I agree with you that sites like that are ridiculous though. Also, I agree with whoever said the internet needs to stay free and open minus kiddie porn. To each their own I guess.

Sorry for the loss.

What do the internet and Channel 11 have in common? They are both a window to the world; put it out there and do not be surprised who will see it.
