Quitting Smoking

# Days of no smoking
Maynard 4
MsBrit 4

I'm gonna try to quit smoking again. Starting tomorrow morning I'm going back to the nic gum. I quit totally for 6 months last year. That was actually one the reasons I bought the bike. It was supposed to be my reward. I was 100% good for that whole time until I fell off the wagon at a baseball game. It really wasen't that hard to quit after the first week or so. A lot easier than I thought it was going to be.

So anyone else want to quit with me? Sort of an online support group. I also figure it's easier to quit if people know what I'm trying to do. Anyone else want to try?

Save lots of money, smell better, look better, ohhh and not die early too. Thats a definate plus.

Eric

I do, I really need to quit. I had quit for 8 mos before I started College, and then multiple 1~2 month times while in school, but just keep hopping back on that wagon. Freaking waste of money and my girlfriend hates it. I'm with ya.

I know i'm dying early so no quitting for me. I know i can pretty much stop whenever i want because i don't smoke in front of my family (only my brother) so whenever i'm with the fam i can hold off on the cancer stick. At least that shows that i have SOME control over it. And i don't smoke much anyways, maybe 6-8 on a daily basis...

Biggy's been on my ass about quiting.... like taking my cigs and throwing them out or hiding them or giving them away. While I am smoking at a bar, he'll have the need to take it from my hand and put it out... he is really starting to piss me off about it. But I know hiw point behind it.... so... I am goin to try to quit again.... I went for a while before.... it's just when something goes completly wrong, or something really bad happens... first thing i do is light up!

Bikes can be replaced...people can't...ride safe!!

Well I am with you Eric... as soon as I am ready. I can't just one day wake up and say " I am goin to quit today... blah blah blah" I have to be in a set of mind and tell myself for a week... this is what I am goin to do!!! So .... what's the bet? First one to smoke has to buy the other a six pack?!

Thats not a bad idea Hunny.

This is last thing I'm gonna say about this becuase I don't want to annoy everyone.

What makes me want to quit is the fact that I know when I'm in my 50's or 60's, I will be lying in a hospital with lung cancer, I'll think to myself, if I just had quit when I was 28, I wouldn't be in this mess right now.

That isn't a maybe, that's pretty much 100% what would happen. I don't want that to happen

Ok im done now. Back to non serious stuff.

guys, thanks

Been quit for 9 years. smoked for 10.

There's something to the saying: One day at a time.

Each day, just make it until tomorrow. If you do break down, don't let it discourage you, just try again to make it until tomorrow.

Everyone Exaggerates

Personally I find it extremely unattractive when a woman smokes. Probably because I am a non-smoker. Nothing wrong with a woman who smokes, its just unattractive to me. Doesn't matter how goodlooking the girl either.

Is that the same way for non-smoking women when looking at smoking men?

Also I find it amazing that there can be a relationship between a smoker and a non smoker. My parents did it for a while before I was born and my father quit due to my mom threatening to kick him out of the house. Props to those who have the patience to live in a situation like that.

True that.... it's hard...
And Heesh i am a smoker and my b/f isn't. For about 2 years when I knew i was goin to be seeing him i would shower, and brush my teeth before hand... kept a bottle of mouth wash in my car also. Because i knew he hated it.... after about 2 years... I just got tired of doing it, now i'll smoke when we go out or something... he's with me for who i am ... but yea... it's a unattractive thing. I was suprised he even started dating me!

No seriously? It can just be me and you Eric. First one to smoke, has to buy the other either drinks or a giftcard for somewhere. My Dad tried to quit and bet my Uncle if my Dad was to smoke he'd have to take my Uncle anywhere in the U.S for dinner. So they have a trip to Hawaii now... No joke

I hear what your saying but your habits are part of who you are. So you can't say smoking and drinking isn't part of who you are. You are a smoker and a drinker, if your bf loves you for that along with your other attributes then thats great. But I bet its more like he loves you "inspite of" the fact you are a smoker and a drinker.

He doesn't drink as a personal choice, knowing his limits and what drinking does to him. He knew when we started dating that I was a smoker and that I drink rarely. Both of which are true. When I quit he was there for me but told me that he didn't love me anymore or less because I did these things. He doesn't agree with 100 percent of my choices but I don't agree with 100 percent of his.
Smoking is not a part of me it's not something that defines me. Riding is a part of me and something that defines me. But of course that's just IMO.

Until I get a new job, i dont think I can quit

Again I agree with you except for that last part. If I lie on a regular basis I can't say that i am not a lier. Sure if you smoked once or twice in your life then yes that doesn't define you. If you do it everyday of your life, how does that not define you? Something you spend soo much time doing and it isn't a part of who you are? Your just fooling yourself.
