ABATE's Explanation re: Senator Rutheford

I hope this clears up a few things.

ABATE of Illinois is a non partisan political grassroots organization. WE

Every election we make difficult choices on endorsements. On more than one
occasion, two friends of ABATE have run against each other and we then have
to make a choice which will leave one of them unhappy.

ABATE of Illinois when confronted with two candidates of the same
credentials. WE endorse the incumbent.

Such is the race for Secretary of State this fall. Dan Rutherford has been a
friend and supporter first as a member of the house and then as a member of
the Illinois senate.

Senator Rutherford’s past voting record alone earned him an A rating.

Secretary of State Jessie White has a history of helping ABATE of Illinois
with the problems we had regarding the confiscation of motorcycles by the
SOS Police and those bikes being returned in boxes.

Jessie White was extremely helpful to ABATE in stopping those confiscations.
Were it not for his efforts we would still be fighting that issue today.

That is why he is an A rated candidate.
Jesse White is the incumbent and earned the endorsement.
This does not take away from Senator Rutherford's accomplishments or support of us in past issues. It merely speaks to a policy that when an office
holder has supported ABATE and then finds themselves in a contested
election, they deserve our support for giving us their past support.

Non partisan means we have friends on both sides of the aisle (Democrats and

State Pac and Fed Pac are made up of members of ABATE of Illinois from
different parts of Illinois

The grading committee was made up of members from all parts of the State.
The Endorsements came from the Pacs.

This is a very good political move by Senator Rutherford using the email he
garnered from his survey, asking if we wanted a mandatory helmet law, to by
pass your Board of Directors.

ps the legislative coordinator doesn't have a vote.
