"Dog" Chapman Arrested, Faces Extradition

from www.tmz.com

MSNBC's Rita Cosby is reporting that Duane Dog Chapman, star of the A&E reality series "Dog the Bounty Hunter," and two members of his bounty hunting team (including his son) were arrested by U.S. officials today for extradition to Mexico. Cosby is reporting that Mexican government officials wanted the three men sent back there in relation to a three-year-old case.

In 2003, Chapman traveled to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico to retrieve Max Factor cosmetics heir Andrew Luster, who was wanted in the U.S. on rape charges. Luster is now in jail, serving a 124-year term. The Chapmans were jailed in Mexico for a brief time for the incident three years ago. Bounty hunting is considered a crime in Mexico.

Dog's wife, Beth Chapman, said 12 armed marshals "came through the door" at 6:00AM this morning. She said they took their daughter's boyfriend down at gunpoint. Dog was sleeping at the time.

TMZ spoke with Nicky Credic from the U.S. Marshals Office. She said, "The arrest warrant was signed by a U.S. magistrate in Hawaii on September 13. The warrant was based on a formal request based on a diplomatic note from the government of Mexico."

Publicity stunt. Nothing is illegal in Mexico.

"includes 10 used-car dealers or auto repair shops, 11 liquor stores and bars--two of which advertise lingerie fashion shows and a third billed as a "gentlemen's club"--three cut-rate motels and one trailer park. The squat, brick municipal building is next to a currency exchange and a few steps from an adult video store. The bars open at 10 a.m. and close at 6:30 a.m."

I'm not a big fan of "The Dog", but is anyone else bothered by the fact that dog was arrested for helping bring a fleeing rapist to justice and the US Magistrate still signed the papers?

Worth a read (about the Max Factory heir): http://tvnz.co.nz/view/news_world_story_skin/163326

I've never watched the show, but if you break a law, you should expect some consequences.

Are you serious?

Does that mean that a police officer in a car chase with a criminal should be issued a speeding ticket if he goes above 55mph?

That's ridiculous, fuck Mexican laws, fuck Mexico, Andrew Luster drugged and raped numerous women and the only reason he was bailed out was because he comes from money ($1 million dollars bail). And even after posting bail, he immediately breaks the law again by fleeing to Mexico and missing his court date. I don't care of Chapman is in it for the money or not, he still brought a criminal in the US to justice here and because of that I think some sort of amnasty should be granted... for profit or not, he did something good and should not be punished for it.

Lol, rep given.

I just am bothered by the fact that Mexico is already seen as a place where criminals can flee to. Couple that with the fact that the Mexican Government is now pursuing those who intend to bring these criminals to justice and I lose my cool. They're a fucked up nation and that sucks, but where do they get off prosecuting our citizens for doing something that helps the US. I'll tell you what, we pull all of our funding for Mexico, stop the border jumpers and get rid of NAFTA, then Mexico can pursue our citizens for petty crimes such as this, until then, keep your dirt poor hands off of those attempting to further OUR people.

Rock and Roll, I agree with you, stupid Americans think they're untouchable overseas. Like that kid who spray painted the cars in Singapore and got his ass caned, moron deserved it. In all fairness, it's not only Americans though, I remember a story last year about a couple of Aussies who attempted to bring a couple pounds of weed into some Pacific Rim country in a surfboard, they're facing life sentences last time I checked... bad pie.

EDIT: She bargained it down to 20 years, and it was Bali, here we go: http://english.people.com.cn/200505/...27_187132.html

Funny, they can extradite a few Americans so easily and we can't get them to handover their biggest drug dealers.

Just joking, but if posts of severe lack of knowledge and idiocracy were deleted, my post count would be 0.

Thats hilarious. Break the law of the land and you get fracked. Simple as that. If he broke the laws over there, then he needs to bribe whomever he needs to bribe to get out, thats just the way things work down there.

Anyway....on another note, if this is for real, I say it's total BULLSHIT, that someone would be taken my US marshall's for going to mexico to bring a RAPIST, who is a complete SCUM BAG, back to america, so he can get what he deserves!!!! I would be OUTRAGED if my daughter (when I have one ) was raped by some millionaire, he fled to Mexico, and a bounty hunter went there to bring him back, so he could be thrown in jail to rot!! Who know's though, this could very well be a publicity stunt...However I did hear the wife on the phone on the radio this morning and she was crying so bad you could hardly understand her.....You can usually tell when someone is fake crying..

( I love taco bell too!!! )
