I've got about 6 Iron Maiden CDs on the Ipod. The 'numbers from the beast' tribute CD is actually pretty good. Dee Snider, George Lynch, Lemmy, Chris Jericho, and others.

The only band I know of that ends every single song.

No fade outs.

So what do you think of the new album? People either loved it like there wasn't an option or hated it. I bought it but haven't had enough time to let it sink in although the songs are a bit too long for my tastes and don't have any killer chorus parts. Good guitars and some memorable songs though.

The last 3 CDs with Bruce are not 80s Maiden but they are good. I think about 50% of the songs on Brave New World are good including Blood Brothers and Out of the Silent Planet. I really liked Dance of Death even better despite reviews panning it. Sure there are 1 or 2 duds but even # of the Beast had its Invaders and Dead Men Tell No Tales.

I have Dance of Death..it's okay, but the songs are way long. Sounds like they are going progressive. With three guitarists, everybody wanting a shot at playing, it gets long. I haven't listened to any of the new album, I'll search it out on myspace.

slightly , but Slayer had their entire new album for preview on myspace, at least a couple weeks ago.

Oh, and I liked the song Invaders from NOTB.

Somewhere, there needs to be a comment about mullets...and Joliet...and shrunken faded t-shirts with that nifty flaking effect.

Suddenly, a career running carnival rides sounds relevant too.

I'm not quite sure I own a T shirt that isn't all faded with the graphic crackling up...and I do know I own at least 3 shirts with the sleeves torn off. Oh and I have a firebird in the garage.

Paul Dianno

A while ago I picked up a 2001 release from Paul Dianno called The Living Dead. Its pretty good. Seems he is playing South America quite a bit with a band he put together. Included a couple live Maiden songs he did recently with his band, but those weren't really necessary. There is an interview on disk 2, but I have not watched it yet.

Has a good cover of Symphony of Destruction on it.

If you ain't with us, then it's just bad news.

If you haven't pick up a copy of Paul Dianno's autobiography. Its funny as hell. He's a way OOC nutter coke head but he still sounds exactly like he did in 1980.

I love that they are from England yet they know all about the plight of the Native Americans.

That Americans are the bad guys.

Their interpretation of that is slightly off from what is considered the actual legend. While there is history of Icarus' dad being paranoid and vengeful of those who were trying to replace him, most counts of that story show Icarus defying his father and flying to the sun, not his father pressuring him to fly there. Hence, the legend becomes more about reminding children they are NOT immortal.
