ticked off at gas prices still

ok...explain this to me...oil is now at 60.00 give or take...was at 75 not long ago...so tell me if im wrong, but shouldnt the price of gas as of right now be below 2 a gallon?...someone able to figure out what the price of gas was when oil was last at 60 a barrel? and compare it to todays price?

but this shit still over 2 bucks is litterally bullshit and i think a very serious lawsuit needs to go on against all gasmakers for minopolizing the market...there is ZERO reason for the prices to stay where they are at since our market has gotten hit so badly lately...

...plus my gf was with me saying "omg slow down, slow down" and I was thinking "Lose annoying squalk box in passenger seat, afford more mods and have less weight in the car and on the back of the bike"...so i dumped her and I'm single again as usual...HERE KITTY KITTY!!!

Hurricane season is still ongoing, so the execs are speculating there will be another storm to give them an excuse to jack up prices . I don't know, I'm sure they some some BS excuse of keeping them up there. I have to give them credit, they always have an answer .

Well you see, I think someone did some deep analysis and realized that you will buy gas at pretty much any price. SO why sell it to you at $1.50 when you will buy just as much at $2.50. Also notice how $2.50 is suddenly not so bad, and $2.00 would be freaking great. The problem is that you don't have a choice, and the gas station owner does not have a choice where he gets it because there is only two or three major refinery companies.

That's okay, I'm slowly fixing these fucktards and cutting back on gas. I use the bike to go everywhere, I conserve some gas there. Shopping for a cage over the winter, and I'm only concerned about gas mileage, could care less what it looks like, as long as it gets over 32 miles/gallon. You couldn't give me a big SUV right now. You'll see me towing the gixxer with a Corolla or Civic to the track next year

Same here. I have filled up my Xterra once in the last 30 days. I'm looking to trade it in this winter for a smaller car.

It'll be funny if they actually complete the multi-year objective of eventually gaining enough control of the world's oil supply to actually break the OPEC cartel and the pricing they can set. (Woops, I said the quiet part loud again)

However, do you really think we'll see it reflected at the pump?

Since you're so well educated on what prices should be, based on careful analysis of supply demand dynamics, why don't you become a commodities trader?

The price of oil is a futures contract, meaning the oil that is bought at 60.xx isn't going to be delivered until October. The oil that made the gas you're buying right now likely cost $70+. The Nov. contract for Brent crude is still $74, and the latter is lighter type of crude better suited for making gasoline. Heavy sour is not easily made into gasoline, therefore the price for heavy sour os only very weakly correlated to gasoline prices.

I'm sure you know the crack spread (profit margin for gasoline refiners) is at historical lows, last quote was 4.18. That means for every Barrel refined, the gasoline refiners are only making $4.18. A whopping profit of 7%. You're getting gouged more by the goverment who are making more on gas taxes than the refiners are. Approximately 38 cents of every gallon is TAX. 14-18 cents goes to the refiner.

Isn't the big problem still lack of refineries? That and the morons who continue to drive gas guzzling vehicles.

I know taxes are a part of it for sure but most times the prices are only 10-15 cents different.... not 70. there were plenty of times when I was only paying a nickel less in IND than I was here.
Indiana (and MANY other cities/states) have been dropping steadily where here in the Chitown area, they have hardly changed.

Father in-law just went to Springfield IL. Gas was 2.06 and 2.16 at ISU. What ever happened to gouging (sp). Do they not see that they are hurting themselves. Gas is that expensive, ppl stop buying the big trucks and SUV's. Before you know it, everyone is driving around in 35 mpg cars and they sell less gas. Makes no sense to me. I hope the C.E.O's of BP, Shell, and Exeon enjoyed their 7 figure x-mas bonuses from last year. I'm sure they'll see another big bonus this year.

Regional differences are partly to blame as well. Average income around here is lower, which generally equates to a lower cost of living overall. Sure we're paying only 2.25 for gas, but we're also making less for the same type of work.

Its not just gas, everyhing here is cheaper, just as its much more expensive in Malibu.

Well, my cage takes 8qts, a box of 12 Mobil 1 synth is roughly $60, plus the filter is $50 minus shipping, so, not so cheap but better then the dealer. And Mao, NEVAR!! The way i see it: My car making broke gives me motivation to go to school and get a higher paying job.

DAMN! 8qts? Go to walmart. You can get 10qts (2 big 5qt jugs) for about $43, and they'll prolly have the filter you need for $5. The dealer gouges on part like you wouldn't beleive.

Hmm, stats I can find say US demand was 20 million barrels a day in 2004.

Little math shows: $4.18 * 20 million a day = $83.6 million profit PER DAY for the industry, using the demand figures from just 2004.

Poor things.
