EBAY problem, please help!

Rant warning, but I do need advice

So I've been watching this 03 R1 on ebay. No reserve $5,600 starting bid with a buy it now at $7K. It runs its course and no one bids on it. A few days later it pops back up there with everything exactly the same. So I contact the guy to come down to see it. We set the time and my father and I come down to check it out. Everything seems to check out, the guy seems truthful and very open. Now I know your not supposed to do this with ebay but I make him an offer. This was on saturday, I tell him I can give him $500 then and bring $5K on monday. This is when things get awkward. He litteraly doesnt say another thing for another 5 mins till I gave up and thanked him for showing me the bike and reminded him that he had my cell number. He didnt counter the offer nothing!!! So Im like fuck it, Ill win it off of ebay and call it a day. Look at this auction:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...RK%3AMEWA%3AIT

Notice the sellers name? Notice the winning bidders name? I think ebay would be kinda pissed about this!

What should I do? I know I can report him to ebay but honestly all they will do is freeze the two accounts. I've been to this guys house so I sent him an email that went like this, I know what you did there and ebay would be pissed, straight up what do you want for the bike?

Any advice is welcome.

Im not really pissed that I didnt get the bike but more so that this guy is shady as hell and I fell for it!

Even heroes know when to be scared.

Yeah All you can do is report it. The guy is kinda stupid because he is going to have to pay the charges on his own auction.

Report it, but I wouldn't pursue trying the buy the bike from the seller.

If he/she has already demonstrated they cannot honor their sale then, there is probably more problems to follow if you did get this guy to sell the bike.

Either way, report him, but don't buy the bike from him. I'm thinking he'll have both parties agree to cancel the auction, so he can avoid fees. He can then offer it to you at a price higher than you offered. Silly stupid though.

I wouldn't buy the bike, even if I had a deposit down. Too many other, more reputable people out there selling bikes to bother with this shithead.

Looks to me like the seller is trying to avoid fees. On a relist (such as this one is), the listing fee is charged if auction ends with reserve not met or if item doesn't sell. I would guess the seller is looking for a number higher but is trying to avoid the fees (EBAY being about collecting fees, who would have thought.).

You still have to pay a percentage once you seel the item. When you re-list listing fees are waived but not the sale fees.

Is it just me, or does that sound insane cheap for that bike? That's the bike I want to buy, and I thought they were more than that for the R6 Limited Edition. Something might have been up with that other than the seller/buyer info, I know there's a lot of scams out there.

Don't let the black with red flames "LE" thing fool you. They are still pretty common. People try to hype it as some special edition, but you can still find them with a bit of research. $5600 for a 2003 R1 is a bit cheap though. Maybe he got a bit nervous about people wanting the title.

Don't worry, it's getting colder. They'll drop their prices so they can get the latest and greatest sportbike so they can go super duper crazy fast (in a straight line) instead of super duper fast (in a straight line).
