WI taxes vs IL taxes

I'm thinking of relocating to WI, how do the taxes compare? You definitely get way more home and way more land for the buck and my salary would be pretty much the same.

Property taxes are supposed to be higher in WI, particularly in the Kenosha area.

Where were you thinking of moving? The Milwaukee area housing market is finally cooling off. Madison is still growing, but the super northern cities are hurting. They've been seriously hurt by massive losses in manufacturing up there.

Sales taxes are lower than IL. As Grover-poo said, property taxes are a bit higher. Higher gas taxes. Flat rate for vehicle registration $45 cars $55 trucks. Trailers under 3000lbs dont need plates. NO FOID CARDS so if you like shooting, there ya go. Also SBR, suppressors and MG legal here.

As said before, northern cities are hurting due to Komrade Doyle driving manufacturing away. SOuthern ones are gonna be feeling it also soon. We lost out on a very large Menards distribution center and another HD factory due to the current states admin.

Actually, gas is about the same where I'm driving in Kenosha. It's a couple cents difference, but a year or so ago, it was close to 20 cents different between Illinois and Wisconsin (I still commute to WI for work).

I was going to fly a bears flag high but i think my house would get shot up.

Using that calculator the cost of living is 12.5% less. (sparta, wi which is near lacrosse, wi) I would get paid 2% more and so far is looking like i'd very likely be getting a promotion so add another 15-20% onto that. State income tax is higher though 6% ish vs 3% in IL.

HDTony.... Damn glad to meet you!

oh property tax is actually less than I'm paying now, for way bigger house and a yard that is 87 times the size of mine, 250 times larger than a regular chicago lot

just be careful buying a house in WI because the housing market there has bigger odds of depreciating. Most of the old homes really. Make sure u get a newer built one because in some areas they build new homes, same bed/bath count and the old homes plunge
