We'll miss you all but it's time to start a new adventure

Well right now I'm sitting in my cousins family room in San Diego, CA contemplating the biggest move in my life since I came to this country at the age of 12, 20 years ago to the date on 11/14/1986.

I have been afforded a golden opportunity to be able to move to Southern California. I had a couple of job interviews today and if my background check comes back ok, I will be the newest PICU RN at Rady's Children Hospital in San Diego, CA starting in January 8, 2007.

It's a big step for me both personally and professionally.

Chicago has been my home ofr 20 years and although I've had my share of bitching and moaning about the weather and all, Chicago is a beautiful city with a unique personality all it's own. Both mine and Shane's immediate family call Chicago home and so we will be leaving them behind with our move.

And after practicing as an R.N. in adult care for the past 8 years of my career, I find myself at the edge of a great adventure, not only will I be changing specialties but I will be handling a completely different patient population, I will now be taking care of children. It's both nerve wracking and exhilirating at the same time.

And then there's our friends here at CLSB. All the wonderful and unique individuals Shane and I have met the last 3 years. All the great people who have helped us out, hung out with us, come to our home for a get together or 2, you have each been an integral part of our live and we will truly miss you.

We're officially leaving for San Diego on December 30, 2006.

Also if anyone can help us out with moving our stuff into storage on Saturday, December 2, 2006 ar 9am let us know and we would really appreciate it.

Here's the thread for it: Moving Assistance

Thanks, I'm pretty excited and scared about it, it's a big change afterall. I'll know by next week for sure if I got the job definitively. So I go on a plane tomorrow back to Chicago from San Diego and wait on pins and needles.

This sounds like a very good decision. I wish you the best Paulette! Most people try to move there, and worry about the job thing later. Sounds like you have everything in order for an exciting adventure!

When my sister moves back here from Hemet, CA, I will no longer have a place to stay there, so this works out well for me!

Ah So Cal. One place I will NEVER again live there. Lived in Fallbrook for 6 months before moving back to Aus in Dec 87. First quake FREAKED ME OUT while the cousin I stayed with sat in the chair watching TV while I was going berserk.

BTW get a good line of credit with Home Depot. Their duct tape makes excellent child control devices. Nothing settles down an out of control kid like duct taping them to a chair.
