talking about garages, if i leave the heat on in the garage, it just runs 24 hours to keep the garage to what ever temp i set it for.

fuck that!

i shut it off unless i am working in there.

its just nuts, and its gonna keep getting colder over the next 7 days.

its BRUTAL!!!

It was -4 when I left for work this morning, thank goodness the wind wasn't blowing much -- the windchill was only -14.

We're supposed to have flurries this afternoon and a high of maybe +14.
I suppose it could be worse.

My garage is still above freezing and my parking spot in the garage at work is out of the wind... the coldest part of my day is the 30 seconds I'm walking from the skywalk entrance to my car. That, and the 5 minutes waiting for the car to sufficiently warm up and blow warm air. I don't miss scraping snow/ice one bit.

Time to help the house out by putting a fire in the fireplace and putting a pork roast in the oven for some slow cooking in a roasting pan w/ some kraut.

Helps to add some BTUs to the dwelling

I'll take it, that's about 1/4 more true than most of my posts.

As for diapers.... What's so wrong with that? Sometimes you're just too lazy to get out of the recliner, so why mess up a good pair of boxers you've only been wearing for 3 days?

Your wife and kid live in the garage? I put pop in the garage, and it froze. I work outside as a freight conductor, and this weather really seperates the men from the pussies.

Jeez, people When I was going to high-school in Kazakhstan, they would cancel outside ski lessons only if it was below -13F (-25C). Anything above it - you put the fucking skis on and run like a rabbit.

Dude, I seriously hope you have a proper fur coat, hat and boots. From my experience if you have a proper clothes, you can more or less comfortably stay outside up to -40F. It will still suck, but it will be tolerable.

BTW, when it's really cold, nothing beats valenki (vs boots) for staying outside. Near damn impossible driving in them. They also look stupid, but they DO keep you warm. If I would be working outside in the cold a lot, I would keep a pair in the trunk of my car. They are very easy to put on/off.

Here's what it is:

Spent the night at the g/f's last night which means outside street parking - Fired up the GTI at 7 am and I think I heard it say "fuk you" in German as I turned the key - 6 degrees at 7 am - ZOINKS was it a chilly one.

FL people head for the heaters when it hits 65.

winter of 74/75 was fun when it actually snowed (flurried) in Ft. Lauderdale. That was a fun day in kindergarten. Nothing stuck on the ground, but it was certainly neat.
