Bit of a shock - FYI CLSB'ers

So I go to see my Accountant last week to get my taxes done and I am short some of my paperwork - I fax it to him the next day and he files my shit and mails me the Docs to sign - The Docs arrived in an envelope that was either sealed poorly or opened carefully - I call my guy to explain and he of course says it was sealed properly (been going to him for yrs so I trust him) - I am now a bit freaked because ALL my info is listed on a tax doc - I call Equifax today to get the "Fraud Alert" put on my file that is good for 90 days on all 3 agencies - I then go to their site and find for $100.00, 12 months of Alerts, Fraud Protection and Reporting for all 3 agencies, through Equifax - I call them back to discuss and it is normaly 129.99 but got it through the net for 99.95 - Gave all my shit to the lady over the phone and BA'AM, it is set up - Can pull my own credit report anytime - If anyone runs credit on me I am alerted and if anyone tries to establish credit, there is now an "approval process" and I am alerted of that too, for all 3 agencies (Equifax, TransUnion & Experian)

This is jut an FYI for my fellow bretheren that to me, $100.00 a yr to make sure my shit is just a bit more protected is worth it

Now, back to your scheduled posting

Funny you should say that cuz he felt bad so he knocked off 40% of his fee - He is a straight shooter and has done my taxes for 8 yrs now

Also, just ran my own report and sure enough, was notified that "I ran my own report" - Neato

That's fine and all but wait until you are opening an account somewhere. My wife had a fraud alert on here stuff do to her CC's getting stolen about 5 years ago. The protection is good, but it can be a pain in the ass at times, especially when you are opening up an account. So when you go into ABT to order that new TV or Stereo you'll be sitting on the phone for an hour waiting to answer questions to verify who you really are.

I have had it before - 5 yrs back I got a "Declined" letter in the mail from Discover Card - I never applied for the card - So when I called to inquire, I had it put on my file and when buying my TL. I had to verify who I was - Took an extra 15 mins and I am cool with that

There's a product they've been advertising too called LifeLock. www.lifelock.com

Been through the fraud thing before and I had to spend hours and hours clearing it up -- and there's still stuff out there. I still cannot get a cell phone in my name. I always have to pony on someone else's account.

Good idea Bug! You can never be too careful now a days! I check my credit every 3 months or so. I think I will sign up for that in a month or so. Good post.
