TaxTime! How much you getting back?

I figured it would be fun to congrats eachother on our refund (if any)

I did mine thru turbotaxonline.com. I found a link that gave it to me for 22.95 for federal and 25 for state.
I did it thru them last year as well so they just transferred all my old info into the new forms and saved me lots of work. High kudos to them!

In the end they are getting me and my wife a total of
1,994 for federal and

141 for state.

How much are you guys getting back?

I just won some UK lottery for 1.5 million british pounds, got the notification in email. I could care less about my tax return, clearly I'm rich now. I wonder how much money I'll have to send them to secure my winnings.

sucker,

King zaboomboom from nigeria is actually going to fly me out to collect the cash, he said to send him some cash so he can send me the tickets to fly there. he cant buy them himself since he has arthritis and is blind so he cant see his rotary knob for his vault combo lock.

hopefully I get back very little. I hate loaning my money to uncle sam. I'd rather pay a little or get a little back then give out interest free loans

haven't worked on the taxes yet. got turbotax deluxe from costco w/ coupon for ~$22

I usually owe a bit to both fed and state. Getting a return means that you didn't plan well enough and you're giving the government a tax free loan with your hard earned money

only...a forced saving account would be better if you take that money and set up another direct deposit to a interest paying savings account

Forced savings, meaning we cant have any access to it. we suck at savings.
we have a small emergency/house tax savings account thats hard enough to fight not to use. I know we would eat it up.

literally, get sum giordanos-portillos-luigis, mmmmm.... im so fat.

plus that interest, "5$" I would rather pay to not have access to it. plus I dont know how to do my taxes, I still dont know what it means when you put a zero or a 1 in that sheet when you get a new job. I always have to call my dad to ask what to put.

to me all i comprehend from 0/1 is that it means, Yes, or no.

With the interest paid on my mortgage this year and the property taxes taken into consideration, I'll be getting back over $4k according to Turbo Tax.

Unfortunately something happened with the wife and the amount of taxes they withheld at her work so she'll be paying around $700... no biggie because we'll still be up around $3600.

I figured it out all different ways and filing separately gets us more $$.

Those numbers are exemptions, to explain it in the simpliest way, the more 1's you put down, the less tax gets taken out of your check. If you claimed more exemptions then you were supposed to, you will have to pay tax on the money the government did not collect.

Last year was the last time for H&R Block. Stupid lady didn't have a clue how to input my stock options. I had done a rough calculation before going in, so when she told me I owed $10,000 more than planned, I just about choked her!

I'm using an accountant from here on out.

Always use an Acct - In sales, I write a LOT off and with the Mortgage and such, it is a little $$ to make sure I get $$ - Unfortunatly, '06 was a good yr for me so I went up in the tax bracket and am only getting about 1/3 back that I got for '05 - Oh well

i bought my first home last year as well, thats why i loved turbo tax, they will ask you everything possible to find you the most deductions possible.

they asked me how much interest paid on loans, if i paid points, etc. then applied it to the rest of the info i added.

you pay to file your IL taxes? why? they have a website that you can input your info and do it all for free.

http://www.revenue.state.il.us/Elect...uals/index.htm

use the web file option unless you have super complicated taxes and don't qualify
