New Cell Service

My contract is up with Verizon and I'm looking to switch to a more sensible plan (I spend $90 a month and use about 1/2 of my minutes). I need about 600 anytime minutes and like the free nights and weekends deal, does anyone know of any special deals available? I've found some great prices at http://letstalk.com but if anyone has a hookup, let me know.

Also, what kinds of phones do you all recommend? I'm never gonna use the MP3/Camera features so forget that, but let me know what you all have and what you think. I'm very rough on phones, so anything that has a metal case will be torn apart within weeks, so plastic is better.

Cingular through Wirefly. $90 a month? Do you text message or internet access? That seems real high for a basic package.

I'm thinking either Cingular or T Mobile at this point, what phones do you all have and like?

The $90 a month is for 1500 anytime minutes, 1000 texts and after Wheaton's extra bullshit taxes.

I just switched from Sprint to T-Mobile and got the Blackberry Pearl. Love it so far. For 2 lines with 700 minutes, free N&W, 400 texts per phone and the blackberry internet package, before taxes is $90.

I actually paid to get out of my Sprint contract because they pissed me off so bad. I'd rather give them the $300 to break my contract than the $1100 the rest of my contract would have cost me.

Been with t-mobile since 2002. I pay $66 after taxes and all, and get 600 anytime, free N&W, 1000 sms, 1000 picture messages, unlimited t-zones (only $5.99 of that $66) that i hack my phones to work as unlimited internet. At the moment I just bought a blackberry 7290 off ebay cheap. I spent some 7 hours, but managed to hack it so that i don't need blackberry service plan for internet.

I use over 1000 minutes a month and I am very happy with Cingular. their network is growing in this area to an even larger size. I am involved in the building of it, reception is about to get even better than it already is.

+1

you have to think 1/2 of your calls are outgoing 1/2 are incoming.

so a 400 minute plan is like have 800 bc of the free incoming.

I almost did the same thing with them once. Then I asked the operator what the cheapest plan I could switch to without extending my contract. Instead of giving them their 300 I switched to 20 minutes @ $12/month for the rest of my contract (10 months or so). Something to try for anyone that hates their service, but they may have closed off that option by now

T-mobile gets my vote, worked in wireless for five years and I decided they were the lesser of the evils.

no service is great, its just who sucks the least. jk.
