RT 66 Track question..

I am interested in the spring to bring the Truck to the strip. What I want to know is, are there any "rules" that I need to know of?
Rolls cages after a certain HP? Helmets? stuff like that.. any insight would be helpful.. thanks!

2001 Golf GTI VR6 - Super Charged-Intercooler, Nitrous = 305 HP... stage 4 to come soon! .. can you say 400? HP? in a Go Kart!

One run at 12.10 without a helmet anywhere and they will stop you the next time. The cage you can prolly slide on once or twice but the helmet they will get you on right away in my experiance.

At Great Lakes they might just let you keep running. They are pretty relaxed up there.

At Rt. 66 you'll get one run and that's just about it.

If they ask you at tech what you expect to run, just say 12.xx

They are pretty relaxed out at Byron too. At least the y used to be I haven't been out there in a while. As long as you don't go out there on a "specialty Day" Like for Mustangs or anything you can get in quite a few runs out at Byron.

Well that what the time slip showed... and I am pretty sure it was still stock at that point.. possibly a pulley change... but I know it had the stock blower on it.

12.10 in that truck would require slicks, a pulley and exhaust with a good tune.. 12.1 is real fast for a 5000lb anything.

Yes it has slicks on it at this point... I need to change that for daily driver.
Should be in the 11's with the ponies that it is putting out now. It went through a major build.

41 is the track you're looking for. I've been there on days that you can hot lap till you're blue in the face. I run at 66 and have gotten more than 2 runs in.. it all depends on the day and the size of the crowd. They are a little more strict on the rules but also a very good track and way nicer than the others around our area. So take that into consideration. Unless you are running a class how many runs do you really need to see how fast your truck is. If you want to race I know a few places that are free... if you know what I mean.

whats the trans like / converter / etc on the truck. A loose converter a resonably cool motor and slicks and 11's is possible.

are you leaving on a brake? or flashing the converter?

I would say GLD. My old hatch would run consistently in the 11.84-12.10 range and they never gave me any trouble. I always used my helmet but I didn't have a cage in the car just because I couldn't afford it at the time. If you're running deep in the 11's they might tell you something but I'm sure you'll get in your good share of runs. On most nights I would get in about 4-6 runs. Rt. 66 is nice and tech is real picky, which isn't a bad thing, but you can only get there one time a week and the place is packed. Your chances of getting caught are real good if you break into the 11's. I only went to Byron once and that place is laid back and I'm sure you'll get away with it there. Good luck man and tell us how you did when track opens up.

Well i am hoping for 11's.. but I am sure I need a few launches to get it right... or more then a few.. haha. The guy I bought it from just bought the " Worlds Fastest Lightning" ... suppose to be in the low 9's . He is a real gear head, also has a built Mustang and a Jeep... he seems to know his stuff.

Definitely won't go 12.0 or even close to it stock.

So basically it is heads/cam + KB...high 11s. And those things love to break.
