My fiancee really, really wants that car, but I think it is stupid looking.

So of course, in a couple years, I'll end up getting her one.

It's a Toyota, you cant go wrong. but don't expect a plush interior, they are very utilitarian.

the color options do not impress me. automatic is offered in both RWD and 4WD, where as the six speed is only offered in 4WD. the back windows don't come down and the rear seat is more of a cage than the back of a transam, but hey, at least the 1/2 doors for the rearseats open.

i don't go off-roading tho, and i'd rather hang the ass out instead, but if u're planning on modding it. i say go for it. and tell me what color u end up having it painted

i think i'd wait until the next generation..hopefully they'll change a few things if it makes it that long

They are way cheaper than I expected...so full msrp isn't awful. I figured they would start in the 30s.

its a throw back to thier old model they used to sell...another carmaker thats going retro...like said above..the color choices suck...but if you can get past that...then get it...and alex is right...they look sweet as candy lifted like that pic he has...go for it...you cant go wrong...but seeing that it is the 1st year for it...suggest getting extended warrenty on it to be safe...

...plus my gf was with me saying "omg slow down, slow down" and I was thinking "Lose annoying squalk box in passenger seat, afford more mods and have less weight in the car and on the back of the bike"...so i dumped her and I'm single again as usual...HERE KITTY KITTY!!!

i thought it was basically just a 4-runner with an aggressive body and two doors. If thats the case, then getting a 4-runner would allow you to get the v8

Haha, come see me then...We do turn a profit on them, however I can definately get you guys some good discounts on them. They are [email protected]$$ rides. You get in expecting a truck-like feel, and you come out of it loving the ride and being quite surprised. ***MOD EDIT - ADVERTISING***Also, to watch it a bit more, watch "Two Roads to Baja" on Speed; it goes over their 1000 mile Baja race in the FJ. There are cosmetic upgrades you can get too to make it look pretty awesome. I'm hoping to pick up a black one in the next 6 to 12 months.

Nah, it's a completely different model than the 4-Runner. The FJ is built for off-road use, and to compete with the Hummer H3 (which it blows away IMO). It uses the same 4.0L V6 engine that the 4-Runner has though. If you can get the Special Edition, you get bigger shocks, and a metallic black (not the regular flat black) color with the roof being the same color, not white. If you get a chance, pick up a brochure, it's like a magazine for the FJ Cruiser, with huge articles and everything.

That's one thing I don't like about it - ALL the roofs are white on those things. The silver w/ the white roof looks especially odd.

EDIT- I stand corrected, the special edition must be even newer and I've never seen one on the road.

Another thing to consider - check out the backseat. When you (or whoever) sits back there, your head is next to a solid wall, not the window on the back door. Feels like a prison back there......

Other than that it's a pretty cool SUV that doesn't look like everything out there with decent horsepower, features and isn't over $30k.

yeah, I'm digging mine... man there are more mods for this thing than a bike! Would be nice to have this look eventually, but not sure I'll ever put that much into it.

I really dig the look, but then I always wanted a little jeep like truck. I love the look of an H2 too, but they seem too expensive, heavy, and gas mileage is too poor for all the miles I put on. I like Jeeps too, Wrangle, Rubicon type, but they're a bit smaller inside albeit probably less expensive. Anyway, I just dug the look and it fit in with the type of vehicle I need. I can put my bike on the back and go adventure. Where the truck can't take me I'll make camp and go further with the DRZ or quad.

Yeah, the interior put me off a bit when I first looked at it. It's very utility, no frills, but it's meant to be a truck and easily cleanable. I dig it.

I went from a BMW 740 to this little guy. So yeah, it's a little rough riding and lacks a lot of the creature comforts but all in all, I love driving it. It makes a great winter vehicle for me and looks to be pretty trail worthy. I'm looking forward to taking it out to Colorado this summer and looks like I'm heading down to Arkansas around the end of the month.

Let me know if you have any questions. There are tons of info on the Web and quite a following already for the vehicle, which is kinda cool. Pricing is coming down too. I got mine for a couple grand under MSRP.

The white top is reminiscent of the original FJ which my wife says looks like a mail truck. Some people like the white top, myself included, others don't. personally I wouldn't want one without it.
