Don't fret..the 'deal of a lifetime' pops up every couple weeks with common bikes. Unless you are searching for a piece of rolling art (Ducati, MV Agusta), just keep an eye out. When it comes to bike selling, there's no saving it. If somebody ponies up the cash, it's gone. Anybody would do the same in his situation.

I don't know man, when you have a set deal and a set time, that's pretty shitty to do to someone, even with a relatively common bike. Do to others as you would have done, right? I hope this guy gets the bike stolen a few hours before the next seller comes to pick it up.

This has happened to me more than once with bikes, cars and various parts. I don't screw around anymore. If I want something, I bring cash and I leave with it. I don't give people a chance to sell it to someone else.

That said, you'll find another 600rr pretty easy. Happy hunting!

That sucks, dude, but I can see it from the seller's point of view. I've had something "sold" and at the last minute the buyer backs out. If I were selling something and someone said, "i'll get you the money in a week" then someone else came along with cash in hand, I'd probably sell it to Mr. cash in hand.

i passed on a few offers when i was selling my bike because the guy was "for sure getting the bike this weekend." well when the weekend rolled around, he had some "unexpected payments, blah blah blah." it took me another month and a half to sell the bike. so for me, nothing is sold until the cash is in my hand.

sorry to say it, but you could have just dropped by with the cash and either taken it home then, or got all the paperwork done and arrange a pick up later.

I was going to but id rather not have to pay $500 for a waste in tax. Private sellers are more negotiable to.

i was ready to, It was just us arranging a time to meet up (he is in milwaukee) so its not a quick pick up. Thats what gets me the most is we had everything setup.

Hindsight is 20/20, but you probably should have mailed him a deposit right away, or paid him the deposit via PayPal. That way he knew you were serious about buying the bike and had money vested in it.
