Tattoo superstitions?

Lots of people with tats here it seems. The other tattoo thread reminded me of a question that Iíve had for a while now.

What are some of the tattoo superstitions?

Iíve heard donít get names, or initials. Why? (besides the obvious, having to change it.) This is more focused on your Childs name.

A while back I was watching Miami Ink, the artist refused to tattoo some girls picture of her deceased friends tattoo. Saying the skull was inverted. What does that represent?

I donít think Iíll ever have a tattoo. My tastes seem to change to much. In time I would regret getting a particular one. I am intrigued by the whole thing though.

So Iím hoping some of you will share your knowledge.

Ken.

other then like people who are alive names...nothing else is taboo as far as i know...im a huge motley crue fan and have the theater of pain cover album tatted on my right bicep and then above that is my unit where i was based during the gulf war.........then i have a tribal custom designed tat on my left bicep and a heart being ripped in half above that...

...plus my gf was with me saying "omg slow down, slow down" and I was thinking "Lose annoying squalk box in passenger seat, afford more mods and have less weight in the car and on the back of the bike"...so i dumped her and I'm single again as usual...HERE KITTY KITTY!!!

reson for it is say your married...u get a tat of their name...its like after so long...someone cheats and then BAM...divorced...ex-gf.../bf...same rules apply...its like putting an instant hex on the whole thing...

as far as some kids...i have heard that some people that have had thiers done with thier kids names had no issues...

personally...i would never do it unless its family or really close friends when it came to names...and they would have to be gone...but if i did that...i have buried 15 people over these last 10 years...so it would be a long list...

...plus my gf was with me saying "omg slow down, slow down" and I was thinking "Lose annoying squalk box in passenger seat, afford more mods and have less weight in the car and on the back of the bike"...so i dumped her and I'm single again as usual...HERE KITTY KITTY!!!

I heard the inverted skull was a cult thing or somethin. Thunder's right though. Anyone I've ever met that got a tattoo of their wife or G/F, with in a year it was over. The only names I would get would be of family memebers after they pass.

the only thing I've heard, as it's been said, no names of significant others or it will end shortly after. I hadn't heard anything about getting names of still living people done and that it was bad luck.

I just got my kids named on the inside of my right arm from my elbow to my wrist. He thought it was so cool that I did that. She keeps bugging me to get her name but I don't want to. I keep teling her my son will always be mine but if we ever split now I'm stuck with your name on me unless I burn it off or have it covered.
As far as the pain...... Some people can deal with it better than others but the location of the tattoo has alot to do with the amount of pain. Sensative areas are wrists, ankles, fingers, feet and anywhere where there is less skin over the bones. Where my kids name ends on my wrist was the most tender area of the whole thing but it didn't hurt it was just uncomfortable. I'll have to get a pic of it this weekend and post it up.

ah...not exactly a superstition...but more of a common knowledge thing...

1. dont get spiderwebs on your elbows...its shows your with a bike gang or part of the KKK and that you hate everyone not white...

2. same thing goes with a teardrop on your cheek which indicates that you killed someone while in prison...

...plus my gf was with me saying "omg slow down, slow down" and I was thinking "Lose annoying squalk box in passenger seat, afford more mods and have less weight in the car and on the back of the bike"...so i dumped her and I'm single again as usual...HERE KITTY KITTY!!!
