Well as most of the veterans of the site know, I was in a pretty bad accident in 2004. Well all that was discovered in my accident was a broken shoulder and ripped rotator cup along with a hyper-extended back and bruising on my leg *hooray for gear* anyway my back went out on my last week, so i went to the doctor to get it checked out. Upon getting the xrays back, they asked me, have i ever broken my back before? I said not to my knowledge. As far as i knew it was just hyperextended from an accident i had. Well then he tells me well its been broken before and he showed me the xray and pointed it out to me. Then he tells me i am one lucky guy. Considering i can still walk and i'm not paralized.
Anyway thats my story and i thought i would share it with you all who know me.
I was just thinking about your accident yesterday, as a matter of fact, and reflecting on how scarey it is -- the lack of control you have over what's going on behind you. Avoiding a rear-end collision is so difficult.
I still remember hearing you screaming at the bitch to get the fuck out of the car. heh, it made me smile as i was asking around for a smoke laying on i-55 in pain
But to defend the docs who diagnosed me in the ER that night. The doc that just checked my out said since he's a back/neck specialist, he would of took an xray again in 2 weeks after the incident. And when i had the accident, all they seemed to focus on was my shoulder since it was obviously the thing that was plain to see. I dunno, i'm just glad i can still walk around on my own 2 feet. And that it wasn't more serious and no one else was hit by that bitch.
doing good, family is great. Went out to eat yesterday and some lady came up to us trying to guess Demon's age, she thought 18 months, he's only 8months heh. He's gonna be one big mofo!
whoa never heard about that....yeah lucky! at least from what it sounds like happened. How much faster than you was the lady going? What ended up happening to her? (legal wise)
Odd, I just worked with another engineer that was rearended over the summer. He was stopped at a stop light, the driver was drunk and took off. The first two police offers on the scene were both riders. One founf the front plate from the car, and took off to the guys house. Got nailed on dui and other stuff. My buddy had a broken leg, and 7K worth of damage to his Vulcan. Conductors have eyes in the back of our heads, you engineers need better mirrors or something. J/K Sounds like you are ok overall, and that is all that matters.

Crazy. My father had a similar experience. He had an accident, then eight years later had another... xrays showed a broken back, hip, and compound femur break (that one was obvious), so they immobilized him. Turns out the back was from the first accident. So, two misdiagnoses: first missing the broken back, second finding it 8 years later and thinking it had just happened. *Always* get xrays after big falls like that. Glad you're on your feet.
Not to get you riled up, but someone seriously messed up in 04. I have a friend that was working construction and took a bad 2 story fall. He was lucky to be alive, broke his back in multiple spots and the ER discharged him. A radiologist got copies his x-rays a immediatly admitted him, but the bones had already started to fuse. He is messed for life. Can you say malpractice with a multi-million $ settlement? If there wouldn't be any difference in your life or treatment, it's probably not worth going after, but if you are more messed up due to lack of proper treatment...
