Yup, never ever feel comfortable making passes on a two-lane when multiple cars are stuck in a row. Certainly does suck though, I usually try and hint at the fact I'm about to pass by edging out for a bit and making myself known.
Are you guys F@*KING Serious? That car was WAY in the wrong. So what you are saying is if you were in a car and that happened or if you were that red car and there was another car behind you, you would pass with out looking? And my honest opinion is that F'ing red car did it on purpose!
* sorry chills you posted while I was trying to, wasn't directed towards you.
The red car driver could have checked and AT THE TIME the bike was still behind him. Common sense says you pass 1 vehicle at a time and the red car HAD the room to do that, the biker did not have the room to do 1 vehicle at a time.
It sucks, but that's the type of shit that can happen to you.
A cop once told me: "Better to be late than be dead, son"
Let it ring in your head too, even if you think you are 'right' or should have the 'right of way' ((which the biker in this video clearly did not have)).
I don't agree. There was too much distance between the red car and the car in front of him to warrent a pass by the car. After the red car brakes (which he was brake checking the bike), the distance between him and the car in front widens. Plus at the time the bike went to make the pass the red car had no indicator on and when he did put it on, it was at the moment he made his lane change. You should indicate BEFORE you make a lane change, not as your doing it.
The bike had the room to pass one car at a time. It didn't seem to me the red car need to make that lane change yet.
However, I would say if it is not necessary to pass (which most times it is not) then you have to take some blame. I give the bike 10%.
If you look at the 11 sec mark there is clearly no need for the red car to attempt a pass. The distance to the next car is too far.

You aren't seeing the hidden car. Look at the shadows, there's a car directly in front of the red car and there's definately not enough room for the bike to pass just the red car and get back in to the lane.
Look at the car it was messing with the biker.
First off he brake checks as he moves to the left. That happened right after the bike moved more to the left. Then the bike lets the car get a small gap on him/her and moves out into the left lane. as the bike gets closer There is a small tap on the brakes from the car as it swerves out pushing the bike off the road.
Legal issues aside we are the only ones that can make sure we are safe on the road. Was there a road rage or not is debatable, but the biker took a chance, going from 70kph to 115kph in seconds he was setting up to pass two if not all three cars. To bad he went down, but he really brought it on himself.
Don't get me wrong, the driver should have checked the mirrors, used signals, and is probably legally responsible but the biker should have been more careful.
If it were me, I would have stayed my ass behind that red car. Way too much traffic there to make a double pass safely. The road ahead was too curvy to see oncoming traffic and traffic ahead of the red car, so it is best to wait it out, listen to some tunes, do some exercise for the lower back, and wait until you encounter an I-80 type stretch, then quickly past the slower vehicles.
