Where do I bring my used oil?

Where can I bring my used motor oil to be recycled or disposed of properly in the Elk Grove area?

Most quick lube places have to take it too, I drop mine off at Jiffy Lube.

Don't mix it with coolant or anything else!

Why not? All that used oil gets re-refined into brand new oil. The refining process will get that used oil back to practically virgin state. Even if the old oil is to be used as fuel, it is still re-refined back into a pure state.

Nope. Just last week I dropped off a 5 gallon jug and two 5 quart jugs of used oil. The guy at Autozone said thank you and took it from my hands.

Taken from http://www.recycleoil.org/

"There are many practical uses for used motor oil. A primary use is to rerefine it into a base stock for lubricating oil. This process is very similar to the refining of crude oil. The result is that the rerefined oil is of as high a quality as a virgin oil product. In fact, rerefining used oil takes from 50 to 85 percent less energy than refining crude oil."

Depending what the oil is intended for, it could be just filtered or distilled like raw crude oil.

Because they actually get paid for used oil but not if there's water in it. We have to pay to get the old antifreeze taken away but they pay us for oil. The driver that picks it up gets all pissed if there's water in the oil drums .

I see. The Jiffylube by me turned down my oil. They said they no longer take used oil. Murray's will take the oil and make you take your empty containers back. Autozone will take it all with a smile.

Look out for this guy! rep Ken.

Had to delete my comments, too much info for the public, and I do not want to have a contract put out on me by the "Company".
