12R?! Someone is calling my NAME!!

Skip the 600! You gonna have 400 miles under your belt? You are ready for a MAN's bike... get a 12R or a Turbo Busa (12R is way more fun)

On second thought, I'll take your bike plus $6000 for the 12R.

AND I live in the Barrington area!! What a deal!
(I'll include a full tank)

+1, 400 miles is not a riding season, it's two tanks of gas. Consider upgrading after 5-10k miles. You should realize that your 2007 GS500 will be worth about the same (+/- $300), whether it has 500 miles or 10k miles, so you may as well ride it.

give the kid a break. He did the right thing by getting the GS500 in the first place

but yeah, 400 miles is just 2 tanks of gas. Stick with the GS for a while

Perhaps - But he's thinking stupid if he wants to trade up to a 600 after 400 miles.

I started on a GS500e, couldn't ask for a better first bike, light, nimble, fast enough to scare me, a breeze to maintain, etc. Smart move Matula.

I'm just teasing. I say ride the wheels off of that GS, and think about it at the end of the season. Plus, the pricing for bikes now are ^ since the season is just starting, wait till Sep/Aug, when all the idiots with 600's get teaseed for having a small bike and trade that in for a 1000, then you'll have your choices on the best looking/newest/fastest bike on the market. Good luck, and it damn sure ain't about the size (bike that is, tt's can go up to F's for all i care ).

400 miles

that's one day of riding the twisties of SW Wisconsin. If you want more power already I got a 2000 SV650 you could have for $3500, more of the middle ground btw a 600 and 500 with lots of room to expand and they can be turned into great track tools too.

You'll see a good amount of saddletime this season, if you add heated grips and wear a decent weight jacket, you'll be riding until Halloween. 5k is not an issue. It does suck that you've only gotten to take her out a handful of times, but it will get better, give it time young padewan. BTW, Welcome to Sportbiking and CLSB, glad to have you. Make sure you sign up for the free NESBA trackday giveaways, then you'll really learn how to ride.

Hell ya get it to a trackday, that will teach you more about riding in one weekend than you can learn in an entire summer on the street.

And don't take these guys attitudes too seriously, they give every newb shit about their bike size, they are right but they tend to pile on... buncha CC nazi's they are.

HDTony.... Damn glad to meet you!

I learned on a 600 and I am glad I did not get a 250/500, actually I should of got a 636 or 9R. But everyone's different to each their own.
