And the USA 2016 Olympic city is...

...Chicago!

They just announced it live on TV.

Granted this doesnt mean the Olympics are actually going to be hosted in Chicago in 2016, only that the US Olympics has chosaen Chicago to host the 2016 games if the US wins the international bid overall.

Chicago wins U.S. bid for 2016 Olympics

Now the bid between nations begins.

2+ years before the official final announcement.

Way too much hype going around just to say that IF the U.S. was chosen, THEN we would host it...I mean all this planning and hype and news for something that we're 2 1/2 years away from knowing the result?!?

Go Penguins, go Thrashers, go lightning tonight. Man I love this NHL season ticket. I get to watch all the action.

Oh Chicago will not get the Olympics, one of the other countries will, those bidding are a lot prettier than the Lake front of chicago.

Great, like traffic isn't bad enough already.

I'll be working from home in 2016.

Never a bad time to climb... unless the weather is really horrible, and then you climb inside!

NBC just said it best, "The Olympics have never been in Brazil, so they will be the lead applicant" "All they need to do is just put together a good bid, and Rio de Janeiro will host the Olympics in 2016."

I really hope Chicago doesn't get the Olympics. It will screw things up for 2 to 3 years before the actual games with all the construction. During the games forget it... traffic will be terrible.

Plus, don't forget the 5% "Mayor Daley Olympic Tax" we will all have to pay so the city can afford the games.

I think if the Olympics come to Chicago it will yes, cause more traffic, but it will also leave Chicago a more beautiful city (hopefully). Also would like to go to the Olympics once in my life and this would be a prime opportunity!

Brazil will get it because the women there have some of the best bodies in the world. All the tourists that go will get AIDS from bangin' them because of all the Bang Bros and Booty Talk p0rn they watched and bring it back to their countries and spread the disease more. Lastly, the drug lords there run the country and have more money than Chicago and Mayor Daley put together.

High crime rate in RIO, security could also be a concern for the IOC.
