Where is the Stick??!!!

How come more people don't drive a manual (gear box) cage?? I'm really curious to hear some opinions regarding this.

manual all the way. auto `s just too damned boring.
i`ll never own another automatic as long as i have a choice. used to work for an automatic tranmission parts manufacturer ( a main one ) i know what goes on in that place. at least with a manual trans i have no idea who made the parts or how lacks they were in the specs. that`s all i`m gonna say for now

Operating a motorcycle. So easy, even a caveman can do it. Knowing how to ride? Priceless.

I'll never own another automatic trans car if I can help it. I've only owned 2 cars that weren't manual trans. I drive thru a lot of traffic and it's never bothered me. Auto trans is so boring.

Driving the Boxster in stop/go traffic sucks. I did it a couple of times and won't again if I can help it. I have an Elantra for that duty.

Three of our 4 cars are manual. Although I only commute about once a week on the average now, I did drive a stick in daily traffic for years.

It's easier to get roadhead in stop/go traffic w/ an automatic.

I would think that driving in traffic sucks in general. Is the green machine a stick or auto? I'm assuming that the Hyundai is auto?

Greenie is a stick and the Hyundai is an auto. And yes, driving in traffic sucks, but I am calmer when I don't have to constantly shift gears and can just sit back and relax.

I'm in my car for at least four hours a day in horrid stop and go traffic and all I'll ever drive is manual transmission. I couldn't have an automatic as an everyday car.

My 95 Eclipse GSX has an ACT2600 clutch and it doesn't even affect me.

Chills, you are a better man than I. If I just had to aimlessly sit there and do nothing than I think I would have gnaw off a leg. Shifting keeps me occupied and sane while just rotting away an hr+ a day.

I never understood why people don't like it in traffic. It requires zero brain power and a little extra right arm/left leg movement. Traffic is aggravating no matter what type of trans you have. IMO

i usually switch on and off but prefer stick to auto. Im on an auto now and sometimes its nice sometimes i miss that clutch pedal. Last stick car was a 96 gsx with a 2600lb clutch so yea i agree 100% with that sitting in traffic thing...it blows

I like to listen to NPR or sing. I guess it wouldn't be so bad, but whenever I'm in the Green car I want to be going fast, so I feel a little anxious. In the Elantra I don't get that feeling... lol... so if that were a manual as well I probably wouldn't mind.

The worst is when traffic is moving at like 4-7 mph. I have to ride the clutch in greenie at that speed. Feet off both pedals is 9mph.

Shit just hearing how long you all sit in traffic just makes me realize how much I love the train. I think it's an automatic, but who knows I'll ask the conductor on the way home. lol

Bought a new Mustang GT with a 5 speed (drove the auto first it sucked), loved it all the way home until I hit first traffic jam. Got tired of working the clutch, shifting..blah...blah. Took it back and bought an Automatic SUV. Next car will be a Vette with paddles I hear those are pretty fun to drive compared to standard manuals. Who knows though I don't have firsthand experience on them yet.

Dude, i've never met an Asian that didn't know how to drive manual. You get's a neg rep for that man.

As for me, my pops had bad experiences with stick so we were prohibited from getting cars w/ manual.

97 M3 + auto = teh suck
00 Prelude + Tip = teh suck
01 A6 = Tip (4.2 doesn't come in manual)

driving manual while drunk is a bitch! You burn the clutch up really quick Seriously though, I used to get pains in my knees from driving in traffic with a stick. I drive on 294 every day for an hour or more and during rush hour it sucks!
