Recommendation on Dealers

I have a friend that is looking to purchase a used bike. He wants to finance it thru the dealer but only wants to spend about $4000 and has no credit. He likes the CBR600RR. What dealers would you recommend that wouldn't rip him off? What dealers have a bigger selection on USED bikes?

All changes, even the most longed for, have their melancholy; for what we leave behind us is a part of ourselves; we must die to one life before we can enter another

Maybe all one can do is hope to end up with the right regrets

Uh. . . this is a can of worms!

Do a search and you'll find lots of info on most local Chicagoland dealers. Facts mixed with opinion (even my bitter hatred towards a few ) and experiences.

Be smart with what the true condition is and know what the current fair value of the machine is.

Lastly. . . shop, shop, shop and then shop some more. Don't fall for BS warranties that are only valid at the selling dealer. Don't get scammed into high interest rates. If you want to think things over, leave a 100% refundable deposit. I try to shy away from bikes purchased at auctions. Bring somone who can tell if a bikes been safety wired or prepped in any other way for racing.

Good luck and have fun!

Believe nothing, no matter where you read it, or who said it, no matter if I have said it, unless it agrees with your own reason and your own common sense. ~ Buddha

$4K for 600rr is prolly unreal from dealer, especially during the season. Tell him to try to get a personal loan and get a bike from a private party, although I doubt he'll find a desent 600rr for that price now.

$4K on a 600RR can't be done, even with a private seller. Not unless it has some damage to it and/or high miles. $4,500 for a 2003 600RR, maybe. Hondas really retain their value after the initial 1st year hit. I sold my 2005 600RR for more than what I paid for it, after I rode it for a few months and crashed it once. Hondas rules.

I agree with everyone else, it's pretty hard to find a decent Honda for that price. He'll probably be looking at a 1996-1998 and if he's going to finance it, he might as well finance a little newer one. I was looking at used 600rr's a few months ago and $5,000 was the lowest I saw for one that was 2000 or newer.

If he doesn't have credit, then I know CCC offers special financing for people with no credit or bad credit. It's pretty hard to get financed for a bike though, so if he has no credit, he'll probably get raped on interest!

Maybe he needs to open up and look at other affordable bikes like a SV650!

That is list homie - If you can't talk a dealer down then you need to have someone help you do so

If he's got no credit then I'd say save up, or get a cosigner.

Or maybe a cosigner on a line of credit that comes with those checks. Pay it off in a year and you'll have paid 0%.

Listing price or not, I would be ashamed to even post a price of $4K for such an old old bike. But then again, I'm not a dealer. I only sell bikes as a hobby.

at list or not, thats criminal, if they move 10% it's still WAY over priced for that bike. I have seen f2's sell for the sub 2k range. Dealership or not, the bike doesn't have a warrenty, and most dealerships probably couldn't get a bank to buy that loan anyway.

I have a F2 for sale that is in very nice condition. He could save some cash and buy some gear.
