camping/fishing places

Looking for a nice clean camping area in wisconson (no more than 8 hour drive from CHI). would like something on a lake (not michigan) where we can do some decent fishing from shore.
I have a pop up but would like basic amenities like clean showers/restrooms for the wifey who cant pee in the woods yet
main thing is a nice woody area on or VERY near a lake...

any suggestions?

Showers and bathrooms in the woods? Go to a hotel.

Never a bad time to climb... unless the weather is really horrible, and then you climb inside!

I understand that. You should come on the next CLSB backpacking trip.

Rock Cut in Rockford is a good place.

Alsp the Kettle Morraine state park (both upper and lower units) are good. Uppers more by Road america area, lowers around Whitewater.

We camp at Castle Rock north of the WI Dells. Its 2 hrs from here so that would be 5 hrs from Chi. Next to a lake. 15 min from the Dells. Theres a campground on both sides of the lake.

Plymoth rock right around the corner from road america is very nice and very clean, my wife is fine with it.

also I hear the state park up in door county is nice as well.

Lake Shelbyville in Central Illinois is a lot of fun. That's where I go about 16 times a summer with the bass boat or jet skiis.
