It is a girls bike...he's totally right.

For starters...ride what you like. If he has a problem with it then he can go hop on his bike which is superior and ride it till the sun sets. The GS is a great first bike which I've suggested to my students who have taken my MSF courses.

Or perhaps he can go hop on a bigger bike and then chase someone like Wink around the track on the 250 he was riding, like I did last year on my R6 and still get schooled

Does he have a bike??

If not, just ask him where his bike is....When people give me shit about my 600, I just laugh at them.

People give you a hard time about riding a modern 600? It's not like todays 600's are comparable to my buddies 1988 Honda F1 or anything.

Yeah, it's usually the retards who have a 1000 who don't know how to ride it, and only know how to do is go fast in a straight line....They are just made because I can ride my 600 better then they can ride their 1k's. It doesn't happen a lot, but I come across it every once in a while.

Before this is read wrong, I'm not bashing 1000's, just the dbags who own them just to have a "big" bike...

Fuck'em. I hate those people who tell others what "kind" of bike it is. First off a bike is a bike no matter what CC as long as it has 2 wheels and it rides. Tell'em you ride what you like and feel comfortable with and you don't ride to fit in with the "crowd". Then if he has something else to say just backhand him and give him a afgan. gas mask.

I recall you mentioning stepping up to a 1000 at the end of the season...peer pressure seems to be working.

The GS500 is a great beginner bike, but yeh it is kinda girly.

No it's not peer pressure, actually I'll probably get a 750, but I'll consider a 1000. I rode a friends new 07 gixxer 1000, and that bike was awesome, but I've never ridden a 750. I've been wanting something a little more, but can't make up my mind, because I really love my 600.

I get the same thing b/c I ride a 600. I tell them come to the track and I'll show them how slow it is. Notice my avatar showing some old guy the fast way round on a 600

The GS is an excellent starter bike. No worries. Hell, I have an EX250 in the garage. Girls bike? Maybe, but it is a ton of fun nonetheless.

Sounds like your friend needs to get out of grade school

Tell him that next time he says something about your bike, you'll do a burnout on his face!

I get that shit from my squid friends since they ride liter bikes, i tell em, "yeah, as soon as you pass me on a turn, then i'll get a bigger bike, in the meantime, have fun seeing the ass end of it."

He's probbably got an uncle with an HD or something...

My first street bike was a shadow 1100...your co-worker would probably say, "now that's a real bike". My jap 600 will spank the 1100 in every measureable fashion.

Ask him if he thinks the GP is lame now that they only run 800cc. Ask him if he thinks the guys who race the 250's are racing girl bikes.

But really, you should just shrug it off and laugh at him. Or maybe you can convince him to learn to ride...then maybe he'll recognize some day!

Well after 14 years of riding on the street, I bought a 1000 just to have a "big" bike. I guess I am a dbag then. Thanks, in one swoop you have destroyed what little self-esteem I had.
