10am every Tuesday

So since this is the first full day I've been off in awhile, I kinda forgot about something that goes on in my neighborhood once springtime rolls around, every Tuesday at 10am. I bet some of you know what it is....

...tornado siren testing.

The siren for the northern chunk of Huntley is literally 100' away from my bedroom window. And my GOD... did I fucking LEAP out of my skin this morning when they hit the siren. It's been over for ~10 minutes now and I'm STILL shaking. I can NOT BELIEVE how LOUD that thing is!!!!!!

Nothing like getting woken up from a LOUD ASS SIREN at 10am when you've been accustomed to getting INTO bed at 8am for the last week...

ROFL. I remeber driving passed the siren in downtown wilmington in my truck with the window rolled down at 10 am on a tuesday. Holy shit, I almost crashed my truck when that thing went off.

Hahahahahah I got freaked out too. I'm at work downtown and the one here blasted off. I never noticed it before, but with everything going on my senses are much more attentive while I'm at work downtown.

I'm thinking air-raid sirens like they've been showing in Iraq all week. Then I think again and there is no way they'd get this close.

RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHAHAHA!!!

That's awesome. When the war first started my buddy called me FRANTICALLY because he thought air raid sirens were going off... turned out to be the first tornado siren test of the year.

I could imagine for newcomers to America those sirens would be quite the scare! I have one within 100 yds of my house as well but it isn't terribly loud.

I think that's what went off today around 10:30 (must have bene late). Course we couldn't hear it that well....we're near the EL.

Doesn't do much good if you can't hear it.
